Maggy really hated school. She wanted to go home but boarding school made that slightly impossible. Math was easy for her, life was not. "Ms. Cruise can you tell me the answer to number thirty?"
She glanced to the girl next to her, lavender hair cut just above her shoulder, lignting bolt tattoo under her ear, legs propped on her desk, blue eyes trained at the ceiling. Her pencil span absently in her hand, her black combat boots shinned, jacket sagging from off shoulder. "Ms. Cruise" their teachers voice was more demanding this time, Maggy gave the girl a little shove and slid her paper over, finger pointing at question thirty.
She looked up, "Oh question thirty? Four point six-seven"
"Four point six-seven what? Turkeys, Pickles, Buildings?"
"Four point six-seven sticks up your ass" she mumbled
On her other side she heard her cousin snicker, "What was that?" their teacher began walking to her desk.
"Feet, four point six-seven feet" she corrected with a smile slipping her legs off of the desk and to the floor.
"Correct Ms. Robinson, Cruise actually do your work next time."
She rolled her eyes and pushed her hair behind her ear, "Yes ma'am but I'll have you know it's only because my pencil broke."
Maggy glanced at her as she snapped the pencil behind her back and showed it to the teacher. Their teacher sighed and grabbed a new pencil, "Here, use it before it magically breaks"
She took the pencil, "I'll try but these things are unpredictable". As there teacher turned around Matt leaned behind Maggy to fist bump her. That girl was Zoe Cruise, Maggy's troublemaker of a roommate. Zoe was rather odd, always showing up late places with random injuries and had a tendency of lacking a filter.
Maggy really wouldn't have become friends with her but when you live with someone you rarely have a choice. So are you just gonna mope in a corner all year?, she had asked. Maggy had made a face, I'm not mopping. Zoe laughed at her, sure ms. mopey but if you ever want to do something other than nothing I'm right here and incredibly bored. Zoe had annoyed her into becoming friends and since Matt and Zoe had become friends instantly she didn't really have a choice.
As class dismissed they walked together back to their door room, "You need to stop provoking her like that."
Zoe looked over at her, "Let me think about it" she tapped her chin, "Yeah no, it's hilarious"
Maggy blew a piece of tree bark brow hair from her forehead but before she had a chance to respond she spotted Bear. Her personal second worst nightmare, the guy was plain mean. He had bullied her for no reason throughout middle school and now he was here. She didn't know how to take the fact that Zoe had taken to matching his energy every time he would seek her out. "Is he coming over here?"
"Ya know" Zoe said, loud enough for him to hear, "If my mom had named me after an animal I would be an asshole too."
"Zoe just who I was looking for" he remarked strutting over, whenever Zoe was there his friends left. What the two of them had was a different type of rivalry, she suspected it was because Zoe fought back more than Maggy ever had.
"Oh I wish you didn't find me"
Maggy looked around for a teacher, Zoe was barely five-two but she was someone not to fuck with. She had scars littering her body, if you asked her about anyone of them she would say she was fighting something insane like a crocodile. The scar across her cheek called for the most talk, she claimed she was fighting some crazy murderer with that one. "Well" he said, "I had a question for you"
