The woods were on fire.  They set them on fucking fire.  Keira grasped his arm, "What do we do?"  Her eyes were wide, reflecting the green light of the fire, "Do we run?"

"No," Dani ground out striding past them.  "Are you stupid?" She snapped.

K leveled his eyes at her, "Are you?  We're surrounded by flames."

She shook her head, "They want us to run."

He turned fully towards her, "Do I need to remind you that we were suspended in lightning for three whole minutes before this?  That it hurt?"

  "Weak," she spat, moving away.

Keira's hand tightened on his arm, "We're in too deep."  Fear was painted across her features, "It's getting bad, K."

Lowering his voice, he leaned down so she could hear him, "You can leave."

"I don't want to, I'm not going to leave you here."

"You know  I can't leave him."

She faced the fire once more, "I know."

  "I'd help you escape."

  "I know."

He sighed, looking to the fire, watching flames part around the wind.  Their army was behind them and K's only calming factor was the fact that Owen was safe at home.

-

They ended up running, K knew they would, he was sure of it the second that shape shifter flew in.  It was for the best that she ran in and ruined Dani's plans, or maybe they were Kronos plans, he didn't know anymore.  Nothing was clear to him anymore as he lay on his bed, staring at the ceiling, listening to the watch on his wrist tick.

Kronos had requested to see him in an hour and he had no idea why, he didn't care why either.  He would likely get scolded, but that wouldn't have been the first time that happened or the last.  The door to his room opening startled him from his thoughts, "K."

He sat up almost too quickly, "Owen."

Owen smiled sweetly, "I missed you today."

His heart twisted at the sight of him, he was there, he was lucid.  "I've missed you, too."

He made his way to the edge of the bed and sat, "I know I'm pretty, but you don't need to pretend to be that shocked to see me."

Shocked was an understatement, he touched his back, dragging his finger down Owen's spine.  "You shock me."

He scoffed, leaning into his touch, "I know I'm crazy, but people keep looking at me weird."

  "You're weird."

"K," he batted at his arm, "You are mean."

His eyes burned, but he hid it.  "I prefer blunt."

"No wonder they called you scary."

"But you aren't scared of me."

He brushed his chapped lips against his, "Never."

K didn't know if he needed to cry or smile, but gods Owen. Owen was there almost fully there and damn Dani needed to see him. It was almost always timed like that, if Owen was in control of his mind, Kronos needed K. "We could run away- leave all of this."

His eyes widened, "We can't give up now."

He sighed, "I guess not." Looking into those almost clear eyes, K knew that he couldn't leave Owen behind no matter what. He couldn't escape his own personal hell, for he would risk missing moments like this. Moments of peace when he couldn't hear anything other than his heartbeat and Owen's voice.
