K was right, they had expanded. It took almost thirty minutes in the golf cart to catch up with Owen, who hopped in the back when they did, he barely let K slow down. The longer the dark tunnels spanned to the more nervous Cassidy got. She wished she had her knife, she'd been working on a sharpening spell though that type of magic wasn't her specialty she thought it'd be nice. Instead she bent the mist around her finger tips, illuminating purple sparkles as if she was a fairy.
When they got there, guards opened the door. K drove through them in the golf cart, she didn't mention how stupid it looked. She knew she wouldn't have enjoyed walking that far. Finally, K parked the golf cart in the middle of a hallway. She flipped on her headphones. According to Matt they would record whenever they were on, any time she flipped them on Maddie would be notified and vice versa. He said that Maggy made them when they were younger, because they didn't have phones and didn't live close. She didn't ask much about it, though it did make her question how little she knew about both of them.
She's been through a lot, Zoe had said. At the time she brushed it off, but the longer she thought about it the more she wondered. She would have pondered this much longer but it was for her to walk. When she stepped out of the golf cart K held both of her wrists behind her back, Owen led the way. He knocked on a door, the windows had a gold plate covering them. The door opened, "What?" she didn't need to look to know that was Dani.
Owen leaned in the doorway and whispered something, the door opened all the way. Cassidy gave her the friendliest smile, "Hi."
Dani's mouth was agape, after a moment she remembered how to function, "Cassidy."
"Danielle."
The shock on her face changed to annoyance, "Come in."
She glanced back at K, he shrugged losing his grip on her. "Boys," Dani held out her hand, K gave her Cassidy's knife, "You can wait outside."
The room wasn't what she expected, it looked like a security room in a mall. There were three screens, several of them split showing multiple scenes. One of them was from inside of a cage, her heart leaped when she caught sight of familiar faces. She wanted to look for Maggy, she didn't have time, she had orders. Another one was an obnoxiously brightly lit room, there was someone sitting very still in the corner. Another person was pacing back in front before them, yelling and waving their hands. Amy was seated in a large chair in front of the screens, she turned dramatically, "Sit."
Cassidy reached for the nearest chair and sat, Amy had a different quality to her, a different hardness. "Hi, I-"
"Don't talk." Amy clicked on one of the screens, "Do you see this?" She nodded, it was a wide frame of a huge cage. It was filled with demigods of all ages, she bit her tongue when she saw Maggy. She was leaning up against the very back wall next to Kyle, as he spoke she pulled the sleeves of her hoodie over her palms. "We have taken. . . confiscated. . ."
"Kidnapped." Dani said from in front of the door, "We've kidnapped over sixty demigods and legacies."
Amy glared at her, "I was being dramatic."
"You were being annoying." This was different.
"As I was saying," she crossed her legs, "With that accomplishment do you really think we need you? We don't. So tell me, why would we take a mole back?"
"I- I'm very good at what I do, I'm practically a master of the mist." Maybe Cassidy and Maddie were wrong, maybe it wouldn't work. "Also, I was wrong when I switched sides. I felt pressured and if they found out I worked for you, it would be very bad."
