They had monsters.  They had a lot of monsters and Zoe's friends needed to be warned.  She fought twelve monsters in less than forty eight hours and she hadn't found Maddie, she had been confident about Maddie's abilities but now she was doubting herself.  Most of them were easy kills, still Maddie had a flimsy dagger and pretty words.  That wouldn't be enough against six of them at once, which had been her first fight of the morning.  She was still just walking straight.  She hadn't run into a person yet, she thought she'd heard voices though.  Maybe that was the silence, the lack of noise around her, the boringness of it all.

Truth be told Zoe had been terrified, only she was just starting to get bored.  Terrifyingly boring, she wanted to bash her head up against the wall, that'd give her something to do.  Though it might mess up her hair.  Andy braided her hair before she left, she smiled remembering the feeling of his hands in her hair and the sweet sound of his voice.  He'd asked her a question: What turned you into a hero?  She laughed and replied, The fates, Andy didn't like that answer.  Aren't they old women? he asked, I could take 'em.  She laughed some more, knowing he was once again trying to convince her not to go on the quest.

"Do you smell that?" asked a dark voice from somewhere in the distance.

"Everything smells like demigod, Barb, your being stupid," responded another voice that was much higher.

"Silence William," it snapped, "This is much more powerful."  Like big three powerful?

She could see their shadows pass by in a neighboring tunnel, she knew not to follow them.  Issac told her not to turn at all.  She should not follow the bickering monsters, she knew that, that didn't stop her from following them.  Whoops.

Nathan didn't know what was worse, camp battle preparations, Washington D.C., or hell.  Chiron called a head counselor meeting the second they got there that morning, while they waited for everyone to get there Issac filled him in on everything that had happened in D.C. with more detail than what Paris had given him the night before.

The two seats to his left were painfully empty, he was used to Zoe's inappropriate or out of pocket comments getting him through these meetings.  Instead he only had the sound of Sam's thumb tapping on the table.  Alex had been promoted to Ares head counselor, she didn't look happy to be there at all.  In fact she was glaring at everyone there, he wondered if she might explode.  Once they were all there, aside from Zoe and Paris, Chiron wheeled into the room.  "Let's get started," he sighed, "To recap intelligence has informed us that they plan to strike as soon as possible."

Olive frowned, "Who is intelligence?" she had grease on her arms, though she didn't seem to care.

"We are keeping their identity a secret, that way they might not get found out as easily."

Nathan mirrored Olive's expression, "Cassidy was good, she got caught helping us rescue important people."

Chiron shook his head, "She's in D.C. and they would never fall for it again."

Alex was toying with a knife in her hand, looking about ready to throw it into someone's heart.  "So when is 'as soon as possible'?  We're prepared to fight, Ares is ready, but we need to know when."

He thought he might vomit, "Unfortunately, I agree.  We need more, something concrete."

Sam actually snorted next to him, "Do you guys think they're gonna book an appointment to fight us?  Work through scheduling conflicts?"
