Secret Birthday

Kat's P.O.V.

I woke up to my phone vibrating furiously on the bedside table. I sat up and saw that my mum was calling. I quickly grabbed my phone and snuck out onto the balcony to answer it.
"Hey mum"
"Hey sweetie, I just wanted to check up on you. How're ya going?"
"Great, apart from the fact that you just woke me up," I giggled at that last part
"Sorry honey, I didn't think you'd still be in bed. It's 8:30"
"Shit, really? Wow. Yeah everything's fine mum."
"Thank you sweetie, you know I love you and just want to keep you safe."
"I know Mum. And I love you too"
"Are you upset that you're going to have to say goodbye to your new friends right before your birthday?"
Woah. How did she?... what?... Huh?...

"Mum how did you know I was thinking about that?"
"You're my only daughter, I know you better than you know yourself."
"Oh, yeah I am I bit. But I'm not gonna tell 'em about it. They'll either try to stay a little longer for it, which would make me feel guilty. Or just feel really bad about having to leave and give me lots of sad hugs goodbye."
"Are you sure sweetie? It's not like you turn 17 everyday"

"Yeah I'm sure. Besides I'll have you guys and Suzie for it. That's all I need."
"Oh, I can't believe my baby is 17 in three weeks!"
"Yeah well believe it. And it's not like I'm youre first child to turn 17"
"Yes, but your my first and only daughter to turn 17. I just want it to be special for you."
"And that's why you're the best Mum in the world"
"Thank you Kat. I'll let you get back to bed and rest before heading to Sydney today. I'll see you in two weeks."
"Ok, bye Mum. See you in two weeks. Then we'll celebrate my 17th, does that sound reasonable?"
"Very much so, bye I love you"
"Love you too Mum. Bye"

I hung up the phone and decided to stay outside for a bit longer, I love the fresh air.

20 minutes later I walked back inside to see Ross' bed empty. I herd the toilet flush and jumped back into bed.
"Hey, what were you doing outside?" Ross asked me when he came out of the bathroom.
"My mum called and woke me up, I was just talking to her out there so I didn't wake anyone."
Ross sat back in bed next to me
"Oh yeah, what'd she have to say?,"
"Not much just checking up on me. She thought I'd be awake by now. She wanted to make sure everything was still ok with me going to Sydney and that I wasn't kidnapped." I rolled my eyes when I sarcastically said kidnapped.
"Hahaha, you have been kidnapped. I like hanging out with you so much, you're never going back home again," he grabbed me and started tickling me. I screamed. I wasn't expecting that.

"Shut up!" Someone screamed from one of the other bedrooms.
"Sorry" we yelled back we looked back at each other and just giggled quietly until we were sore.
