Christmas dinner was incredible. There was chicken and turkey, mashed potatoes, salad. It reminded me of my Mum's cooking. I had made a pavlova cake for dessert for them to try. I loooooooove pavlova so I wanted to share that with them.

"So where did you girls go this afternoon?" Riker asked me.
"We just went for a walk." I told him. Maya had gone home to spend Christmas with her family, while Lucy and Emily were spending the night here.
"Where did you guys go?" Emily asked Stormie and Mark.
"Since you girls had come up to sit with all of our things, we thought we'd go for a romantic walk on the beach." Stormie answered.
"Where'd you go then Del?" I asked her.
"I went to the toilet then back into the water with he boys."
"We all wondered where you all got to." Lucy laughed.

I felt Ross' hand grip my leg tightly. I looked at him next to me and saw him smirking. I leaned over and kissed him on the cheek, whispering in his ear, "Later," before I removed his hand. His face dropped for a second before winking at me. I just rolled my eyes and continued to eat this delicious meal.

"So did you kids have a good day?" Mark asked as he finished off his mouthful of food.
"Yeah!" Pretty much everyone responded.
"So Lucy, Kat, how does it compare to an Australian Christmas?" He looked at the two of us.
"It was pretty close to what I used to do with my family." Lucy answered.
"What about you Kat?" Stormie asked.
"Yeah, same with my family. The beach was usually a big part of our Christmas celebrations." I laughed.

I missed my parents and my brothers so much. Ben and I would always lock whatever we had gotten in either mine or his room so that Jason and Charlie couldn't get to them and break them. Then we'd go to the beach with everyone else that lived in the small-ish beach town we lived in. Usually mine and Suzie's family would be at the same beach and her, Ben and I, would hang out and do our own thing. Then by late afternoon Mum and Dad would take us for a drive to our block of land about half an hour away. There was an old shed towards the back, and they would set up a drive-in screen on the side of it. Every year I'd beg to watch 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' but I got shot down with the explanation, 'I watch it too much already'. So we'd watch some Disney movie that we'd all enjoy. When we were kids we'd always fall asleep before the movie was even halfway over, then when we got home our parents would wake us up for ice-cream covered in Milo.

"Kat? Are you ok?" Stormie asked in a quiet voice. She snapped me out of my thoughts.
"Sorry?"
"I asked are you ok? You were starring at the wall for a while." She's such a sweet woman.
"Haha, yeah I'm fine. Just thinking about my family and what we do for Christmas."
"Oh sweetie, was your day not as good as we thought?" She asked concerned.
"No. My day was fabulous. It was so great to spend Christmas with you guys. I was just reminiscing on good memories is all." I wasn't upset that I was here with them, and I did miss my family, but this is a new chapter in my life and I know that being in a serious relationship changes things sometimes and you have to just go along with it and enjoy.

"Bzz...bzz." My phone vibrated in my pocket. I looked at Stormie to see if it was ok to check my phone. She just smiled and nodded her head at me. So I pulled my phone out to see it was a message from Ben. It said 'We were missing you so much yesterday. So this was our drive-in movie last night" (chapter pic is what he sent). I let out a squeal and everyone looked at me. I pointed at my phone and said, "Sorry."
I texted back: 'Dude! Not fair. The year I'm not there for Christmas is the year you decide to watch my movie?'
I got a text back almost immediately.
'We were missing you dudette. Watching it made us feel like you were here with us'. That's so sweet of them, even if it they watched it without me.

A half an hour later everyone had finished eating their dinner and I was getting the pavlova ready. Putting strawberries, passion fruit and whipped cream on the top. I could hear everyone laughing and carrying on in the dining room and wanted to hurry up so I could join them again. I heard footsteps behind me and turned around to see Ross trying to sneak up on me.
"Damn it!" He whined.
"What were you trying to do? Were you trying to scare me?" I smiled holding my arms out to him.
"No I was trying to surprise you and put my hands on your eyes," he moved in and hugged me back.
"That looks delicious," he said pulling back and moving towards the dessert.
"Thanks. It took me a while to make, haha" he laughed with me and sprayed some whipped cream in his mouth.
"Hey!" I complained.
"Whah?" His mouth was full.
"Share man," I snatched the can from him and sprayed some in my mouth. He went to grab the can from me but I just sprayed him.
"How dare you," he laughed. He moved quickly and grabbed the second can on the counter and sprayed me back. I sprayed him again and a full on whipped cream war broke out. When my can ran out I threw it at him and ran towards the backyard heading for the hose.
"I'm gonna get you!" He laughed from behind me.
I turned the hose on and blasted him with the water. He caught up to me, soaking wet, and picked me up making me drop the hose. By now the rest of the family had heard us and came out to see what was happening. Ross had me slung over his shoulder and we were laughing so hard. He was walking towards the pool when I realised what he was thinking.
"No. No. Don't you dare Ross Lynch," I warned him. He giggled and kept walking.
"Nooo. No no no n...." Was the last thing I said before I was heaved into the pool.

"Ross!!" I yelled from the pool, watching him clutch his stomach in laughter. Everyone else was giggling along with him. I physically wasn't able to stay angry for long and joined in.
"Can you help me out?" I said swimming over to the edge.
"Come here," Ross said holding his hand out. Dumb move, I pulled him into the pool with me. Everyone cracked up when I did that. Next thing I know Ratliff is running at the pool and jumping in. Then everyone else joined in, still wearing all their clothes. Luckily winter in California wasn't that cold.

Even though it wasn't freezing we didn't last long in the pool before we got cold. We all stripped down to our underwear and covered ourselves in towels before we gathered in the living room again.
"Hey Kat, is it dessert time yet?" Rocky asked.
"Oh, yeah. I'll go get it." I stood up and walked to he kitchen. The pavlova was still there and luckily I managed to finish it before Ross and my little fight.

"Here you go guys. I hope you like it." I had already cut it in the kitchen. Everyone took a piece and tried some.
"Holy shit. This is great!" Emily exclaimed.
"Yeah, this is delicious." Riker agreed.
This was awesome. Everyone loved my pavlova. I was worried that I had messed it up somehow or they just wouldn't like it.
"Kat this is really good. You're a great cook." Mark complimented me.
"Thank you guys. It's my favourite dessert and it means so much that I'm able to share it with you." Right then Ross put his arm around me and kissed my cheek.
