Girl's Night Gone Bad

It's Ross' birthday tomorrow and I have a romantic picnic on the beach planned for us in the afternoon. The rest of the day was up to him, if he wanted a family day or something else.

At the moment I'm sitting with Rydel and Riker in Del's room, just talking. I wasn't exactly sure why Riker was with us, in her room though. I thought tonight we were gonna have a girl's night.

"How're you and El going?" Riker asked in a brotherly way.
"Are you worried about you little sis?" I asked in a mocking tone
"A little, but I'm actually interested. He's my best friend and he's dating my sister. I just wanna know how it's going," Rydel and I giggled at him.
"Everything's good Rik. You don't have to worry," she moved and hugged him.
"What about you and Emily?" She nudged him and wiggled her eyebrows. Again, being girls, we giggled at the comment. Riker just rolled his eyes.
"She's great. We get along really well and she's so beautiful." He was being weird. He had that love struck look to him, but there was something off about it. The look wasn't complete, his eyes were hiding something. Something I couldn't quite put my finger on, but something none the less.

"So you guys are pretty serious now?" I asked him.
"Uh, I guess so. Yeah," he turned his head so we couldn't see it for a second before looking back at us, smiling.
"Are you serious enough to have slept together?" Del asked.
"Rydel!" I snickered. "You're seriously asking your brother that?" I was too afraid to talk about this kinda thing with my older brother, so I was surprised that Del would.
"It's cool, Kat. Del's my best friend, we talk about this kinda stuff often." I was truly shocked. I never knew a brother and sister to be that close.
"So?" Rydel was getting impatient. "Have you two had sex?" Riker just smiled and shook his head
"Once. The night before Christmas Eve." he answered. Del squealed quietly.

"Thank god," she said. I looked at her puzzled.
"It'd been so long since he'd slept with anyone he was getting a little cranky," she said cranky in a little kids voice while pouting and looking at Riker.
"I can't believe you two are actually talking about sex with each other. It's so weird," I said.
"You and your brother don't talk about it. I thought you said you guys were close?" Riker asked.
"We are, but not this close," I motioned between the two of them.
"So you and Ben never talked about who you'd hooked up with?" Del asked me.
"I mean, Ben sometimes told me, when I knew the girl. But I never told him because I had never... I, uh... I had never slept with anyone. I was a virgin." I quietly said. Riker's eyebrows furrowed.
"Was?" He asked. His eyes showed a hint of pain.
"Well, I... Ross and I...." I felt so weird talking about sleeping with his brother. His face dropped, but only for a second. And Rydel didn't see because she was giving me a sympathetic, sisterly look.
"So Ross took your virginity?" He asked coldly. "When?" By now Rydel had turned her attention to Riker and could see how upset he was.

"Do you guys remember that girl, Sara?" I asked. They nodded their heads, urging me to continue.
"She was lying about her baby, saying it was Ross' to try and trick him into a relationship with her. That day, when he found out, I thought he was going to be pissed off. But he was upset, devastated. He'd told me that even thought he never actually liked her, he was getting used to the idea of being a father. And the fact that this girl thought she could manipulate him made him feel like he was too caring and naive. So to try and cheer him up, I started telling him some funny stories of when I was younger. He started to laugh and tell me some stories in return. It then turned into a movie day with mine and his favourite movies. We had been in his room all day and we were watching Romeo and Juliet for the second time, and we...." I didn't want to go into further details.

"He slept with you after he found out he wasn't going to be a father?! Don't you think maybe he was so upset about not being a father, he wanted to get you pregnant!" Riker was now standing, yelling at me. To be honest, he was scaring me a little. He saw that and calmed down a little.
"Sorry Kat, but I mean did you think of that before you gave up your virginity to him?" I looked at Rydel to see if she knew what I should do. She shrugged and I turned back to Riker.
"Riker, we used protection. I love him, and why do you care anyway, huh?!" I was getting in his face now. His face went red, he wasn't calm anymore.
"Why do I care?!" He yelled back "Why do I care?!"
"Yes! Why do you care Riker! It has nothing to do with you! Ross has been with other girls before and you've never been in his business before! What is so different?!" I was seriously pissed at him now. What makes him think this is his business?
"What's so different?!" He asked. I was done with all the questions, so I just nodded.

"I love you!" He confessed.
"What?" I whispered.
"I love you," he said much more quietly , walking towards me now.
"What about Emily. Remember, the girl you're pretty serious with?"
"I can't get over you. She's great, but you're special." He was right in front of me now, I could feel his breath on my face. I shook my head and walked to the door. I stopped in front of Del to say, "I'll talk to you later," before I left the room quickly, crying.

Riker's P.O.V.

Fuck. Did I just...? Fuck!

I looked at my sister. She looked so disappointed in me. What went from a great time with my sister and our friend, quickly turned into something completely horrible.
"How could you?" Del asked still standing by the door.
"I didn't mean to. It just came out. She was yelling at me asking me why and I just told her. I didn't mean to Del. I'm sorry." I broke down crying. She walked over to me and sat me on her bed. I was waiting for her to put her arms around me, but she never did.
"You've fucked up, bro." she said to me.
"I know."
"No you don't. That's our brothers' girlfriend. He loves her, she loves him. And you've got a girlfriend yourself. Did you really think that was a good thing to admit?" She was really mad, but I could tell she was trying to be calm so I didn't freak out anymore.
"No I didn't, but I had to Del. I love her." I looked at her through my watery eyes. She rolled her eyes and stood up.
"You're an idiot, Riker. You can't love her, you need stop this. You can't do this to Emily. She cares about you, maybe not love yet, but she cares. And it would hurt her to know that you don't feel the same way."
"But I do feel the same way."
"How can you, if you love Kat?" She raised her voice a little.
"I care about Emily. But I love Kat. I can't help it, and I know it's wrong."
"You're damn right it's wrong," she sat back down again.
"I'm going to apologise to her. I'm gonna do that now." I said getting off her bed.
"You better do that quick before she's tells Ross what happened." She warned.

Crap.

I ran out to find her sitting against the hallway wall, crying.
"Kat?" She looked up at me and immediately got off the ground, heading for Ross' room.
"Kat, wait!" I yelled after her. I stuck my foot in the door before she could close it. "Please?" I pleaded.
She was still trying to shut the door on my foot. I pulled it out and let her close the door.
"I'm sorry Kat. I didn't mean to say that." I leaned my forehead against the door. Slowly it opened to reveal, not a sad Kat, but a pissed Kat.
"I'm sorry." I repeated.
"You're sorry? You're an idjit. You don't say that to your brothers girlfriend, no matter whether it's true or not." She crossed her arms over her chest.
"I know. I was just caught in the heat of the moment." She giggled. What?
"Why're you laughing?" She was pissed a second ago.
"No reason. Look, I'm still mad at you even though it doesn't look it."
"I know, and you should be. Just please don't tell Ross I said that. He would never forgive me and I can't live with my brother hating me."
"I get it."
"So you forgive me?" I asked hopefully.
"No. I don't think I'm gonna be able to be around you without feeling awkward for a little while."
"I get it." I looked at my feet.
"I don't hate you. I just, get a little weird when people like me. I don't know how to act. And I won't tell Ross, only if you can promise me, you won't hurt Emily." She raised her eyebrows in question.
"I won't. I promise." I promised her. "Hug?"
"Uh, no, I, uh don't think that's a good idea," she put her hand out for a handshake. I took it and walked back to Del's room to tell her how it went.

"So?" She asked jumping on her bed.
"She's not gonna tell Ross, she doesn't hate me, but she thinks it's a good idea if we steer clear of each other for a while." I told her.
"You saved your ass this time, big bro."
"Shut up." I walked out of her room and headed towards mine, I was tired after all that drama.

So....... I'm thinking of taking a break from this for a while. I'm not gonna give up, but I'm just finding it hard to muster up the enthusiasm to continue writing at the moment. I don't know why, maybe I'm not confident in the story anymore or something, but updates will be a bit slower 😊
