He turned around, his eyes locking with mine.
A smile formed on his face, my stomach squirmed out of nervousness. I took a deep breath in and walked down the stairs. I could feel Camilo's gaze on me as I walked.
When I reached the bottom, Camilo walked towards me. He grabbed both of my hands in his,
"You really do live up to your nickname, don't you hermosa?" He said leaning closer to me.
"Which nickname?" I joked.
"I thought that was pretty clear, but-."
"I'm kidding you dork, you look nice too."
"Oh."
I laughed at his confusion.
"You're cute." I accidentally blurted.
"Thanks hermosa." He smirked.
My face was flushed, I can't believe I just blurted that out.
"We should probably start heading out." I said.
"Right." He said before grabbing ahold of my hand and pulling me to the door.
As we were about to leave we were stopped. Pepa stood in front of us,
"Stay safe you two, if anything happens come straight back here." Pepa told us.
"Mami, I know I've left the house alone before." Camilo said.
Pepa was about to say something before she was interrupted,
"Mi amor, leave them alone." Félix interjected appearing out of nowhere.
"Fine... have fun." Pepa said smiling at us.
Camilo squeezed my hand and whispered to me,
"Let's get out of here before my entire family decides to interrupt us."
I laughed at his comment as we started walking outside again. It was still light outside, but I knew it would get dark fairly early due to the season.
"Where are we going first?" I asked Camilo.
"Oh, uhmmmmm..." Camilo thought for a moment, "Food."
"And where's that?" I asked stifling a laugh.
"Right this way m'lady." He said as he guided me in the direction.
When we had grabbed as much food as we could carry we found a place to sit down.
"Did you only grab sweets?" Camilo asked me seeing my collection of food.
"Yes." I said shamelessly, as I took a bite of a cookie.
"I didn't know you had a sweet tooth."
"Well—I'm good at hiding it, my mom used to get mad at me whenever I ate a lot of sweets. So, naturally, I learned to sneak sweets."
"Aren't you a little to clumsy for that?"
"I can hold back my clumsiness long enough to eat the food, she only ever caught me after I ate the food. Which really didn't do her any good cause what was done, was done." I said.
"Ahh yes, the only result of strict parenting, learning how to sneak." Camilo said dramatically.
We continued talking as we finished our food. Then Camilo stopped randomly, he gently grabbed my face. My eyes widened.
"You have something on your face." He said as he wiped the corner of my mouth with his thumb.
"Oh- uh- thanks." I stuttered, my face flushed from his touch.
I saw a grin form on his face, he got exactly the reaction he wanted. Weirdly, I didn't care, I wasn't annoyed. I was happy.
"We should go do some games." Camilo said.
"Huh? Oh! Right... right." I said still spaced out.
When I got up, Camilo immediately intertwined my fingers with his. He quickly glanced at me, before leading me to another part of town.
Time skip brought to you by 'Don't eat those.'
Camilo and I had spent a couple hours beating all the games. Some of the people running them began to get annoyed by our constant returns. But I didn't care, I was more focused on him.
After a bit of searching we found the game we had decided to save for last. It was a dart board game and it had prizes.
"I bet I can get a prize." Camilo told me.
"Really?" I said doubting him.
"Yeah, I'll even get the biggest prize."
"We'll see." I gestured for him to go play.
The person running the stand gave him three darts, three chances to prove that he could do it.
Camilo carefully aimed the dart, then he threw it.
It was a narrow miss.
I tried to hold my laughter back, but he noticed and glared at me.
"I'll get the next one." I heard him mutter.
He prepared himself to throw again and then he threw it.
It barely landed on the edge of the board.
"Well that was closer." I offered.
He ignored me, then he took a deep breath in, and a deep breath out. Steadying his hand he directed the dart toward the board as he threw.
It flew threw the air.
And completely missed.
I couldn't control my laughter as I fell to the floor. My vision became blurry as I laughed, my eyes watery from laughing.
I watched as the stand person handed Camilo some sort of bracelet as a prize. It wasn't much compared to the huge stuffed animals we saw other people get as prizes. Camilo sat for a second just staring at it.
"For you." He held out the bracelet to me.
I couldn't resist smiling as I took it out of his hand. I slipped it onto my wrist, it was the perfect fit.
"I'd say you won that game." I told Camilo.
"Yeah." He smiled.
