"Here we are." The annoyed-looking, old taxi driver grumbled. He unlocked the doors and I jumped out before Jovan could even move.

"Taylor!" Jovan called after me. I ignored him and limped as fast as possible towards the old, beat-up house. I approached the steps which led up to the porch. It make a creaking sound when my foot stepped on it. I prayed silently for the front door to be open. I ran a hand through my hair and took hold of the doornob. I sighed in relief as the door swung open. I stepped in, the floor boards making the same spooky creaking noise as the front steps.

"Taylor, be careful." Jovan murmered. He was standing behind me as I scanned the place. Beer cans flooded most of the house and every once in a while a rat, ant, or another type of bug/rodent would scamper across the floor. I shuddered, focusing on finding Jason.

"Jason?" I called as I did my best to walk around mess of cans. "Jason, where are you?" I realized my lip was trembling. Please be okay, I thought. Please be safe.

"I'll check out back." Jovan mumbled and made his way towards some broken down back door. My eyes stung as I approached the kitchen, hoping that this was the right place after all. It had to be.

As I rounded the counter, my eyes spotted what looked like blood. I sucked in a deep breath, secretly hoping that the blood belonged to anyone but Jason.

"J-Jason?" I shivered. I increased my speed, searching high and low. "Jason, where are you?!" I was crying now. "Jason..."

My eyes fell upon a silhouette lying on the floor behind the kitchen's wall.

"Jason!" I shrieked, approaching the figure. Sure enough, It was him. I chewed on my bottom lip, swallowing back tears. Jason's face was badly bruised and his arm lay limp beside him, still clutching the phone. His leg was positioned at some weird angle and blood was slowly seeping out of a cut on his lip.

"Jason!" I cried again, kneeling down beside him and slowly carressing his face, lips. His chest was rising and falling abnormally. I felt like part of me was slowly slipping through my fingers.

"Jason, wake up!" A tear slid down my face. "Jason, it's me. It's Taylor. I'm here for you." I bent down, ever-so-slowly my lips grazed his cheek and then I let them linger there for a while. I found his limp hand, interwining my fingers with his. It was cold, as if I were holding the hand of a corpse.

Suddenly Jason coughed, blood sputtering out of his mouth and onto my leg.

"Jason!" I tried to smile but it was almost impossible through tears. His eyelids fluttered open, but that simple action caused him to cringe.

"Taylor." He managed.

"I'm here." I breathed. "Jovan!" I called this time. "I found him! He's here! Call the hospital!" Loud footsteps echoed throughout the house as Jovan made his way inside. He spotted us, his eyes widening.

"I'll call the hospital." He said already sliding his phone out of his pocket. I turned to Jason, his weak eyes still on me.

"Don't leave me." I blurted without thought. I felt stupid, helping and loving a boy who'd hurt me where it hurt most. But I didn't care. That meant nothing at this moment. If I lost him, I don't know what I would do.

"I won't." Jason muttered, taking me by complete surprise.

My lips curled into a small smile. I have his hand a squeeze.

"Why did you call me?" I asked him suddenly. "Why not 911?"

Jason's eyes bored into mine as he answered. "Because...I guess I needed you more...more than some silly ambulance."

I didn't know whether to smile or cry so I did both. I pulled his head gently onto my lap and let my fingers slide through his dirty blonde hair. Jason closed his eyes, probably enjoying the feeling but I noticed how he would cringe in pain every once in a while, his free hand clutching his stomach.

"They're on their way." Jovan told me, walking over to us. He stared down at Jason, zero emotion in his eyes. I ignored him, thinking about how I couldn't lose Jason. Everything I ever loved had slipped through my bare fingers. I wouldn't let Jason slip. I'd hold onto him until he tells me to let go. Heck, I might not even listen.

Jason's breathing evened and I couldn't help but smile slightly. I wondered if the only reason he was alive right now was because of me.

I woke up to find myself in a room I recognized as a hospital room. I had a horrible headache and I could feel my right eye throbbing. And then there was my knee. The worst pain of all. It rippled throughout my body, throbbing as well. I looked down to find it in a cast similiar to the one I noticed Taylor wearing.

Taylor.

I glanced around the room desperatly, searching for Taylor. I even snuck a peek at the ceiling, feeling slightly hopeful.

Nothing.

My heart sunk. Where was Taylor? Had she just left me here? No...she couldn't. What if I was taken back to jail? I can't let thag happen. I did nothing wrong. I fixed my actions...all because of Taylor. And she just leaves me like that? Gosh, I can't believe I actually-

"Jason?"

I shot up, causing pain to blast throughout my body. I cringed but smiled anyways, glad that she hadn't left me and that I was only hallucinating.

"Careful." She told me, a smile written across her face as she made her way over to my bed.

I gazed up into her green eyes. They were so beautiful, like two small, precious emeralds. They made me have no regrets about calling Nick and saving his life...even after what he did to me.

"You're being released tomorrow," Taylor told me, interrupting my thoughts. "Where are you going to go?"

I let out a small sigh and shrugged. Where would I go? I don't know. I had no one.

"You can stay at my place." Taylor offered with a big grin across her face, her cheeks slightly pink.

I nodded. "Uh, yeah. Thanks...Tay. Thanks." I smiled.

"Taylor!" Jovan burst through the room doors, his eyes on Taylor. I scowled. I will never, ever like this guy. Ever.

Taylor turned to face up, his forehead scrunched up in a questioning manner. "Yeah?" She answered.

"Abbie called me," Jovan explained. "The police station called the house. James's time is done. He's out of jail."

Taylor beamed, the biggest smile I've ever seen on her was now shining brightly on her lips. "That's great! Thanks so much for the news, Jovan! Did they tell Abbie anything else?"

Jovan nodded. "James is probably already on his way to the house. That's all. Finally, someone my age who I can actually socalize with." Jovan chuckled.

I smirked, interrupting them. "Good to know your brother's out of jail." I smiled up at Taylor.

"Thank you, J." She reached over, taking my hand and giving it a squeeze. I felt some kind of electric spark the minute she touched me. Goose bumps rose over my skin...in a good way. I wanted to hold Taylor and never let her go.

When I snuck a peek at Jovan, he was staring at us, his eyes narrowed and a look of disgust and envy across his face. That made me grin even bigger.
