Chapter 61: Mission In Lagos

(Lagos, Nigeria, April, 2016. Y/N's Age: 18)

Y/N's POV

Myself and the other Avengers are currently on a mission in Lagos because we finally have a lead on Rumlow.

Steve is in an apartment building above while Nat, Wanda and I are undercover on the street level below and Sam is above us.

Wanda and Mine's cover is a couple on vacation.

After a minute, Steve speaks up.

Steve: All right, what do you see?

Wanda: Standard beat cops. Small station. Quiet street. It's a good target.

Steve: There's an ATM on the south corner, which means?

Y/N: Cameras.

Steve: Both cross streets are one way.

Wanda: So, compromised escape routes.

Steve: Means our guy doesn't care about being seen. He isn't afraid to make a mess on the way out. Do you see that Range Rover halfway up the block?

Y/N: Yeah, the red one.

Wanda: It's cute.

Natasha: It's also bulletproof, which means private security...which means more guns...which means more headaches for somebody. Probably us.

Wanda: You guys know I can move things with my mind, right?

Natasha: Looking over your shoulder needs to become a second nature.

Sam: Anybody ever tell you you're a little paranoid?

Natasha: Not to my face. Why? Did you hear something?

Y/N: Paranoid is safe.

Natasha: Exactly, Y/N.

Steve: Eyes on target, folks. This is the best lead we've had on Rumlow in six months. I don't want to lose him.

Sam: (scoffs) If he sees us coming, that won't be a problem. He kind of hates us.

After a couple minutes we realize that a truck down below was armed and Natasha brings up a good point that it was a battering ram, and we realize he wasn't attacking the police.

Steve: Go now.

Then we all head to the same place so we can stop Rumlow.

Cap then comes over the comms.

Steve: Body armour. AR-15's. I make seven hostiles.

I then swing in wearing my suit and take down two of the hostiles.

Y/N: I make five Captain.

Wanda then comes In and grabs ahold of one of the hostiles.

Wanda: Sam?

Then Sam flies in and takes him down with his wing.

Sam: Four.

I jump to the ground and I join the others.

Sam: Rumlow is on the third floor.

Y/N: Wanda, just like we practiced.

Wanda: What about the gas?

Steve: Get it out.

Wanda then uses her powers to send Steve and I up to the third floor.

When Steve and I get on the third floor we take out Rumlows crew.

After finding that Rumlow had gotten away, Steve and I outrun an explosion that was happening inside of the building.

This caused the both of us to be sent flying out of the window and hitting the ground below.

Y/N: We gotta get Rumlow. We can't lose him again.

Steve: Let's go.

Steve and I then go and find Rumlow.

I run over a few cars and roll on the ground and find gear on the ground.

Y/N: They ditched their gear. It's a shell game now. One of them has the payload.

Then suddenly we a hear ticking and I look down and see a bomb on Caps shield.

I web it and pull it out of his hands and throw it in the air and it explodes.

We then turn and see Rumlow coming at us.

After a few minutes of fighting Rumlow, We manage to disarm him and knock him down on the ground.

Steve then rips his mask off to see that his face is all messed up from the building being dropped on him.

Rumlow: All things considered I think I look pretty good.

Y/N: Who's the buyer?

Rumlow: You know he knew you. Your pal, your Bucky.

Steve: What the hell did you say?

Rumlow: Your Bucky, he knew you, remembered you, he got all weepy about it. Until they stuck his head back in a blender. He wanted you to know something. He said to me, "Please tell Rogers. When you gotta go...you gotta go."

Rumlow then activated a bomb that was strapped to his chest, but Wanda had managed to save us by using her powers to create a shield around Rumlow to contain the blast.

She then threw him up but a building that had been nearby got caught in the explosion.

Wanda then fell to her knees and tears started of fall down her face.

Y/N: Sa..Sam. We need fire and rescue on the south side of the building.

I then go and kneel down to Wanda to comfort her as I knew she was feeling guilty about this.

Then when fire and rescue shows up, we all then go back to the compound.
