Chapter 24: The Death Of Nick Fury

Y/N's POV

I'm now outside the hospital and as I go to walk in, I see. Natasha pull up in her car.

She gets out of the car and comes over to me.

Natasha: Are you okay?

Y/N: Uh...yeah.

Natasha: Let's go.

Natasha's POV

Y/N and I walk into the hospital and we go into the viewing room and see that Steve and Hill were there.

We then see that Nick is in surgery.

Y/N: Is he gonna make it?

Steve: We don't know.

Natasha: Tell me about the shooter.

Steve: He's fast. Strong. Had a metal arm.

Natasha: Ballistics?

Maria: Three rounds, no rifling. Completely untraceable.

Natasha: Soviet made.

Maria: Yeah. How'd you know that?

I ignored her question as I could feel the tears in my eyes start to form.

I couldn't believe Nick was shot at. Nick then started to have problems which started to make me worry.

Natasha: Don't do this to me, Nick.

I watched hoping Nick would suddenly wake up but he didn't.

The doctors then called it. Nick Fury was dead. He was officially dead.

Steve's POV

After the doctors called it and Nick was officially confirmed dead, Natasha, Y/N and I were saying our goodbyes.

Y/N and I then back up and let Natasha stand by Nick by herself.

Then after a few minutes Hill came in.

Maria: I need to take him now.

I looked at her hoping this was just a dream. But I realized it wasn't and she was right.

I then went over to her to let her know.

Steve: Natasha.

I then see Nat put her hand on Nicks forehead before she leaves the room.

I then take off after her to make sure she was alright and Y/N followed.

Steve: Natasha.

Nat then turns to us.

Natasha: Why was Fury in your apartment?

I sigh.

Steve: I don't know.

Rumlow: Cap, they want you back at S.H.I.E.L.D.

I turned to face Rumlow.

Steve: Yeah, give me a second.

Rumlow: They want you both now.

Steve: Okay.

Rumlow then walks away and I turn back to Natasha.

Natasha: You're a terrible liar.

Natasha then walks away from us.

I then take out the flash drive and show Y/N.

Y/N: (Whispers) What's that?

Steve: (Whispers) It's a flash drive. Nick gave it to me. We need to hide it.

Y/N then looks over at the vending machine that was being refilled and I knew that's where I should put.

After hiding the flash drive in the vending machine, Y/N and I then walk over to Rumlow and the S.T.R.I.K.E team.

Steve: Let's go.

Y/N and I then leave with the S.T.R.I.K.E. Team knowing that we put the USB drive in a safe place.

(One hour later)

Y/N's POV

Steve and I are now in our suits and we are walking through the halls of S.H.I.E.L.D.

We then look around the corner and see Kate, Steve's undercover neighbor talking to Alexander Pierce.

Steve and I then turn the corner and Kate was now coming our way.

Kate: Captain Rogers.

Steve: Neighbor.

Pierce: Captain. I'm Alexander Pierce.

Steve shakes his hand.

Steve: Sir, it's an honor.

Alexander: The honor is all mine, Captain. My father served in the 101st.

Pierce then looks at me.

Alexander: And you must be the new Spider-Man.

I shake his hand.

Y/N: Nice to meet you sir.

Alexander: The honor is mine. Please come in.

Once we walked in, I felt like something was wrong.

Alexander: You can take off your mask, Mr. Cameron.

Y/N: How'd you...

Alexander: Know that Y/N Cameron is the new Spider-Man. Nick told me when you arrived in Washington. I knew your parents. They were two of the best agents I ever had the honor to work with.

Y/N: Thank you sir.

I then take off my mask.

Pierce then told Steve and I about how he and Nick met.

Alexander: Captain, why was Nick in your apartment last night?

I shake my head.

Steve: I don't know.

Alexander: Do you know why Nick was there?

Steve: No, sir. I do not.

Alexander: Did you know it was bugged?

Steve: I did, because Nick told me.

Alexander: Did he tell you that he was the one who bugged it?

Steve stayed silent for a moment.

Pierce then tells Steve and I that Nick was dirty and he was the one that hired the pirates to attack the Lumarian Star.

Steve and I were then about to leave the office.

Pierce: Captain, Spider-Man. Someone killed my friend and I'm gonna find out why. Anyone who gets In my way is gonna regret it. Anyone.

Steve & I: Understood.

I then put my mask back on.

After the meeting Steve and I both knew that after that something definitely wasn't right.
