Y/N's P.O.V
I screamed out as another contraction hit, my eyes squeezing shut and my hand gripping Haley's as tightly as I fucking could as the waves of pain harshly washed over me.
"Good girl, you're doing so well, well done." Haley smiled sympathetically, my best friend clearly trying to hide the pain that I was unintentionally inflicting on her as she clenched her jaw. I breathed out as the contraction passed, my eyes fluttering in exhaustion and my hair stuck to my forehead because of the physical effort as I lay there. Suddenly, the door flew open, making my eyes widen as Tom ran in. His eyes widened too, his gaze wavering and his mouth falling open as he saw that our daughter hadn't arrived yet. He had made it in time.
"Oh my god." He choked.
"Tommy, you made it." I sobbed, making him smile and shake his head as he rushed to me and hugged me tightly.
"Fuck, I thought that I'd missed it, I'm in time, she's not here yet." He shook his head, smiles on both of our faces and tears leaving our eyes as he took my face into his hands and pressed our foreheads together.
"No, no, she's not here yet, you're okay, Tommy, you're okay." I nodded. He returned it and laughed with joy, making me smile as he leant in and gently kissed me.
"One more push, my love, she's nearly here, come on." Tom encouraged, my husband soothingly rubbing my back with one hand and gripping my hand with the other one as he tried his hardest to help me get through this. I screamed out as the contraction hit, my eyes squeezed shut and my teeth gritted together as the pain washed through me. But then, the most beautiful sound filled the room. My eyes shot open, a choke leaving my lips as just like that, the pain stopped...and the crying started.
"Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Holland, it's a baby girl." The nurse smiled as she gently took our baby, and lifted her up so that we could see her. Tears immediately started to leave my eyes as I saw her, my heart filling in love with her instantly as she cried and wailed. I bit my lip and looked up at Tom to see him also crying.
"You did it, sweetheart. You did it." He smiled through the tears and shook his head as he leant down and kissed my head. I breathed a sigh of relief, my eyes fluttering in exhaustion at what I'd just been through, but relief also washing over me at the fact that it was finally over, and Tom and I were officially the parents of a beautiful and healthy baby girl. I looked up as the nurse walked back towards us, our baby now cradled in a yellow blanket and hat as she continued to quietly cry and squeeze her eyes shut.
"Here you go, Mrs. Holland." She spoke, both mine and Tom's eyes glued to our baby as the nurse gently placed her into my arms.
"Oh, love. She's beautiful, she's so beautiful." Tom choked as he gently cupped her head with his hand. I nodded in agreement and smiled, tears running down my face as my eyes just flicked over our daughter's already perfect face.
"She has your eyes." I chuckled and bit my lip as her eyes opened and fluttered shut.
"Oh, she does. Look at those gorgeous brown eyes." He smiled, making me return it and just look at her.
"Welcome to the world, Olivia Elizabeth Nicola Holland. Welcome to the world." Tom whispered before leaning down and kissing her head.
My eyes fluttered open, my body slowly but surely waking up as I came to. I yawned and stretched out, my eyes squeezing shut as I did before I relaxed, and opened my eyes again. I looked to my side, my heart fluttering in my chest and a smile curling onto my lips at the sight that I was greeted with. Tom lay next to me, my husband awake as he looked down at Olivia who was fast asleep on his chest.
"Morning." I whispered, alerting Tom to the fact that I was awake as he looked at me.
"Morning, my love." He smiled, his voice quiet as he gently rubbed his hand up and down Olivia's back.
"How did she get into our bed, huh?" I teased as I rolled onto my side so that I was facing them.
"Well, I heard her crying at three this morning, and she continued to cry every time that I put her down, so I brought her back to bed with us." He shrugged.
"God, she's already such a daddy's girl, I can tell right now that you're going to be such a pushover with her." I chuckled as I propped my head up with my hand.
"I would love to deny that, sweetheart, but I honestly can't." He smiled and looked at me, making me smirk and bite my lip as I looked back at her. He followed my gaze, my husband's eyes so full of love for our daughter as he continued to keep her asleep by gently rubbing his hand up and down her back.
"Can I tell you something, darling?" he asked quietly as he looked back at me.
"Of course you can." I nodded. He gulped and flicked his eyes over my face.
"I don't want to have another baby." He admitted. My eyebrows furrowed, my mouth falling open slightly at his words.
"Tommy, Olivia is only a month old, don't you think that it's too soon to be thinking about having another baby-."
"No, love, I mean, fuck...I don't want to have another baby. Ever." He gulped. My eyes widened, my heart dropping slightly at his words. Whilst it was true that we were still very new parents, and things were bound to get harder, a month with our daughter was more than enough to tell me that I'd want to give her a sibling when she was a bit older, I knew that in time, I'd want to experience the pregnancy, and having a new-born baby again. So, I had to admit that it hurt a little that Tom had already decided that he didn't want another child.
"Why, though? Olivia is the perfect baby, why wouldn't you want to have another one?" I asked.
"Because of what you just said, sweetheart. She's the perfect baby. She's perfect, I don't know, it's silly, but I just want her and you. I'm sorry." He sighed and shook his head. I returned the sigh and bit my lip before giving him a reassuring smile.
"No, no, it's okay. It's okay, Olivia is enough. She's our world, she's enough." I nodded. He returned the nod and gave me a small smile, his spare hand reaching over and landing on my thigh as he flicked his eyes over my face.
"Thank you, darling. I love you so much." He spoke and shook his head before leaning down and kissing me.
