Chapter 46

Kaitlyn's POV

I finally reached home after walking for what seemed forever

I felt ashamed and embarrassed of what I did today, it was childish and uncalled for

Hayes didn't even seem to notice us so that was just a waste

I walked in the front door of my house and slid down the door

"Ughhh" I said leaning my head on the door

"Bad day?" My mom asked walking by

I nodded and sat there starring at her

"Mom don't be mad but I want to see Hayes"

My mom just starred at me not giving me a sign of speaking anytime soon

"Please mom, I know it's been a week but this is torture"

My mom thought for a moment then finally spoke

"Well by how much your taking those pills, I think it's best for you to see him too." My mom smiled and walked away

A smile crept onto my face and I did my happy dance on the floor.

I reached into my pocket for my phone to text Hayes and tell him we needed to talk

Suddenly the door bell rang which made me jump

I stood up quickly and opened the door slowly

As soon as I saw the person who was on the other side I felt happiness fill me again

"Hi Kaitlyn" Hayes said smiling

"Hi" I said stepping out and closed the door behind me

"Look Hayes I'm sorry-"

"No Kaitlyn, I'm sorry. I didn't know about a surgery and it was wrong of me to move onto a new girl the day after. And if you really still want a break I'm totally fine with that."

Wait did he just mention my surgery?

"Uh wait Hayes, you know about my surgery?"

"I don't know what kind of surgery but I over heard you and Nick today talking"

I rocked on my heals and looked over at the rocking chair swing next to us

"Here sit down let me tell you about it"

"First of all, I gotta do this" Hayes said and leaned in

I did the same and felt his lips on mine as though it's been years since I have

We stayed like this until we both ran out of breath and I hugged Hayes tightly

"I just wanted to let you know that I missed you Kaitlyn" Hayes said into my hair

"I missed you too" I said smiling and breathing in his cologne that I missed

"Also I took care of Nick" Hayes said chuckling

I let go and looked up at Hayes in shocked "what did you do!" I said

"Oh nothing major" Hayes said laughing even more

I rolled my eye and grabbed Hayes's hand and brought him over to the chair so I can tell him about the surgery

"Wow Kaitlyn, and that's why you said we have to take a break?" Hayes asked gripping my hand tightly

"Yea my mom thought being out so much with you could cause me stress. Obviously that's not true" I said looking out at the street

Hayes thought for awhile "does she still think that? Should I leave?"

"No no she's totally fine with it now, I was gonna actually ask you if when I have my surgery will you come with me so I don't freak out?" I asked

"Of course, anything you need tell me" Hayes said squeezing my hand

That's exactly what I didn't want him to do or say

I sighed and let go of his hand leaving him confused

"Hayes even though I'm having this surgery, please don't treat me like I'm broken. I want to be able to depend on myself sometimes so I won't ask you to do everything"

Hayes sat there not saying a word and I scooted away so we weren't as close

"If that's what you want, but just know I will still always be there for you" Hayes said

"Thanks Grier" I said smiling and leaning my head on his shoulder

Out of the corner of my I saw Hayes smiling and he wrapped his arm around my shoulder

We sat there for not even 5 seconds until I jumped up and grabbed Hayes's hands

"I totally forgot! I have something for you!" I said dragging Hayes inside my house

Hayes was laughing the whole way in "are you excited to give me it?"

"Well yes," I grabbed the invitation to the party before school and handed it to Hayes "here, it's an invitation" I said smiling

Hayes opened the invitation and read it

"Well I'll R.S.V.P right now and say I will be there" Hayes said smiling and slipping the invitation in his back pocket

"Perfect" I walked with Hayes over to the living room

"What movie shall we watch?" I asked looking through the movies

"Well I was actually thinking we could just lay here and cuddle" Hayes said grabbing my waist and pulling me to the couch

I laughed and sat next to him

"Fine by me" I said laying my head on his chest and closing my eyes

Soon we were both asleep and it wasn't even 5 pm yet.
