Chapter 49

Kaitlyn's POV

I woke up groggy and confused

I leaned up in my bed and looked around finding Hayes over on my sofa sleeping

My head was in pain so I reached over for my pills and took one

Relief came to me and I looked back over at Hayes still in his clothes from last night

"Hayes" I whispered

He didn't move so I tried a little louder

"Hayes!" I whispered louder

He didn't budge from his sleep so I grabbed my pillow and threw it at him

Hayes suddenly sat up quickly and looked around.

He looked over at me and came over to my bed and hugged me

"Hayes what happened last night. I'm so confused" I said letting go of him

Hayes took a deep breath and Looked me in the eyes

"So when the car came around I quickly ran into the street and pushed you out of the way. I tried to go back for Stacy but I was too late." Hayes said,

he starting looking away but I grabbed his face and made him look me in the eyes

"Hayes what happened after that. Please tell me" I said starting to get worried

"Um.." Hayes started to get tears in his eyes

"You blacked out from shock and Stacy got hit by the car."

Hayes started to cry harder and I sat there in shock.

My old friend Stacy was gone. She was the loud scream I heard

I started to get dizzy and grabbed my head from getting dizzy

I hugged Hayes tightly and we cried together for a long time

"After the accident your mom sent everyone home and called the ambulance, they tried to revive her but it didn't work." Hayes cried into my shoulder

I began crying even harder and Hayes tightened his grip

"Oh yea I found this out there" Hayes pulled something out of his pocket and held his hand out to me

I opened his hand and saw my K&H necklace, I grabbed it from him and put it on.

"Last night I carried you in here and I watched to make sure you were ok until I fell asleep on your sofa" Hayes said wiping his tears away

"You didn't go with the ambulance?" I asked shocked

"They wouldn't let me, they new she probably wouldn't make it and they didn't want me there" Hayes said looking out the window

I put my face in my hands and tried to process this whole thing

"The guy who hit Stacy was arrested and is in jail for life for hitting someone while drunk" Hayes said grabbing my hand.

I whipped my hand away from his "that doesn't bring Stacy back Hayes!" I cried

Hayes sat nodding, he knew. He just couldn't believe the thought of Stacy being gone too

"Hayes I don't want to leave my room today" I said shaking

"We can stay in here all day" Hayes said looking at me

I leaned back in bed and Hayes laid next to me

I wrapped my arms around him and let the tears fall. Why? Why did that have to happen?
