Chapter 6: I can't stand you!
Maria had been sleeping peacefully after the events that happened the night before with Peter and the bank robbery. That all went to shit though when Happy burst into her room in the morning yelling about the news.
"God Happy do you even knock!" Maria yelled from underneath her pillow which she shoved over her head when Happy barged in.
"Oh I'm sorry I forgot to knock since I'm stressed about you and Parker being involved in a bank robbery," Maria removed the pillow as she looked over at a stressed out Happy. He gave her an exasperated look as she sent a smirk over to him ready to mess with him.
"Happy did you forget to take your medication this morning? Parker and I were not involved in a bank robbery" Maria said slowly as she looked over at him lying through her teeth.
"Maria this is no time to joke around okay I know everything. You two are on the news and I got a call from your dad this morning he is freaking out," Maria furrowed her eyebrows at the information wondering why her dad would call Happy first before calling her.
"How come dad called you and not me?" Maria questioned looking over at Happy before reaching over to pick up her phone.
"He said he tried but you didn't pick up," Maria groaned looking at her phone that she had placed on do not disturb and once taking it off she noticed the 50 missed calls from her dad and 100 messages from him and even Pepper.
"Yeah you're in trouble kid he said to call him back as soon as I woke you up," with that Happy left the room and Maria dialed her dad back. It was less than a second that the phone rang before her dad picked up.
"Oh well look who it is, my delinquent daughter," Maria rolled her eyes at that before falling back onto her bed.
"I have no idea what you're talking about, I did nothing wrong," Maria tried to say as nonchalant as possible.
"Save it Maria Jean Stark I might have believed you if your and Parker's faces weren't all over the news this morning," Maria rarely ever got in trouble but knew she was in trouble in this moment when her dad used her full name.
"Okay hear me out this is what happened... I didn't know we would be caught on camera," Maria finished and she was being honest, she didn't know they would be recorded.
"Yeah well thanks to the little video you are now on the governments radar and they want you to take precautionary measures since you are in the eye of the public as a hero now. They want to hold a meeting to get a gist of how strong your powers are ever since, well Wanda," Maria huffed out angry now that she had gone public with her powers. She worked so hard to keep them a secret and because of one lousy security video that someone probably sold for a little extra cash, she now had to make herself public. On top of that to try to label her as dangerous because of an accident that Wanda made that she regretted so badly, they can't label them all dangerous just because they possess gifts.
