Chapter 14: Avengers Assemble
Maria was confused. She felt this looming energy around her as she struggled to open her eyes. Once she did she was more confused than ever. One second she was with her mom cooking dinner, the next she's on this abandoned field. It took a second, but all of a sudden, every memory came back into Maria's head about where she was and with who.
Maria sat up quickly and looked around her where she noticed some of the guardians looking around just as confused as she was. Maria was about to ask what was happening when she noticed Strange and Peter begin appearing out of thin air. Maria saw Strange walk over to Peter and helping him up as they walked over to the rest of the group. Peter ran into Maria's arms hugging her tightly to him, the two sharing a quick kiss before being interrupted by Strange.
"Everyone I know you're confused right now but there isn't much time to explain so I'll keep it simple. It has been 5 years and everyone else is on Earth fighting Thanos and his army so we have to go. I am going to portal us there," Maria was even more confused now hearing what Strange was saying than she was when she woke up. Nonetheless, she nodded her head along with everyone else and they looked to where Strange made a portal. Maria, Peter, and Strange along with the rest of the guardians went through the portal into a field that looked like the aftermath of a war. Upon further observing, Maria realized that the place they were standing at was the Avenger's compound. She had no idea what had happened in those 5 years, but it does not look pretty at the moment.
Maria lowered herself on the ground and looked around to see various portals opening up with many people stepping out of them. Some of the people she recognized, while others were new to her. She looked ahead of her to see Thanos and his army standing in front of them but she couldn't help but notice Thanos looked a little different here. Maria didn't have much time to think as they all prepared to face off against Thanos.
"Avengers... Assemble," Steve said as everyone began advancing toward Thanos. Maria pushed herself off the ground as she began flying into the air as she saw Thanos give the call to his army to advance also.
Maria started of by using her powers to pick up debris from the ground and throwing them at certain aliens on the ground. There weren't as many air opponents as there were on the ground but she thought the other's could handle most of them at least Ant-Man who was giant at the moment and punching down ships from the air.
"Hey, how's it going?" Maria said as she landed on the ground where she saw Wanda fighting some aliens. Wanda startled at first, but gave a faint smile when she saw Maria standing next to her and began fighting off some aliens.
"Uh, I could be better," Wanda said, frowning as she took down more aliens.
"What happened?" Maria asked, confused. Wanda seemed more down than usual and Maria was worried about her. It took a second for the thoughts to click in her head but Maria guessed since Thanos had made them disappear, he had to get the mind stone from Vision somehow. "Oh... Wanda I'm so sorry."
