Chapter 4: Glorified Babysitter!
Maria was getting back to normal. Well, her new normal having finished her schooling and losing half her family. She was just enjoying her time off for now, well until her father got tired of her sleeping on the couch and then she would make a move to get a job.
"Oh well if it isn't the hobo that sleeps for free in my home," Tony called out sarcastically from the dinner table eating breakfast with Rhodey. Maria just let out an irritated grunt before making her way to the cabinet pulling out a bowl and some cereal.
"You know I pay a hefty amount for a chef to cook us meals and you're just going to eat cereal?" Tony asked as he looked at his daughter skeptically as she sat down next to Rhodey across from her dad.
"You have never reminded me more of your father than you do right in this moment," Rhodey told her as he laughed at the look Tony sent his way.
"Listen dad you won't have to worry much about me okay because I have come up with a fool proof plan that will land me a job in no time. Either way though I'm still underage so you technically still have to take care of me," Maria explained to her dad as she munched on her cereal with her mouth open grossing him and Rhodey out.
"Yeah I'm sure... actually no need to look for a job because I have the perfect one lined up for you," Tony began knowing Maria would be interested in this new job he had lined up for her.
"Listen dad I already thought about working for you before but I feel that there would just be too much animosity between me and all the other workers considering I am your daughter and it would be handed to me ya know like nepotism," Maria explained hurriedly. Maria knew all her life she had been handed things materialistically and educationally but one thing she would not let her father give her is a job.
"Yeah but we just established that you are underage and under my care so you're going to do it. Either way I feel that you're really going to enjoy this job that I have planned out for you," Maria furrowed her eyebrows looking over to her uncle Rhodey to see if he knew what her dad was going on about.
"Don't look at me I don't know what he's going on about but I am interested," Rhodey shrugged his shoulders but leaned forward wanting to listen to what Tony was going to have his daughter do.
"Are you ready?" Tony asked excitedly looking between his best friend and daughter who both looked annoyed with him.
"Yes get on with it already," Maria muttered laying her head on her hand.
"Well as you know I let the spider kid keep his new suit and you know he is a young kid in need of guidance so I decided to have you go and keep an eye on him. Keep him out of trouble and help him out in things he might need," Maria's jaw dropped as she stared at her father with an unreadable expression on her face. "Is that an excited face? Are you excited? I knew you would be excited!"
