Chapter 18: Is it really you?
Maria was recovering fairly nicely for someone who was in a somewhat coma for around 8 months. It had only been about three days since she woke up but for Maria, it was as if it was only yesterday that she was fighting Thanos on Titan.
The doctor had been called immediately after she woke up and he came as quickly as he could. He ran diagnostics on Maria and surprisingly said she was okay, one of the healthiest people he had ever seen. Her family had decided to overlook this since they had an idea that Phoenix had to do with Maria being healthy after using the stones.
There had been one problem though when Maria woke up. She had tried to use her powers to get something from her desk when she was already in bed and she couldn't move anything. Maria had been worried so she tried to use her telepathy or even her intangibility but they didn't work either. She had called her dad worried about her powers not working which then ended with another call to the doctor. He had told them that he wasn't an expert in powers but if he had to guess, Maria was still weak from almost dying so her powers would take a while to come back. So now it was a matter of a waiting game until her powers came back.
Maria had decided to move her worry from her powers to her boyfriend. Her dad had told her that Peter had gone on a school trip to Europe which she had a bit of memory of hearing him tell her that when she was asleep. After all she was still conscious, just not physically. Maria had tried to call him but her dad told her to let him enjoy his trip since he had been by her bedside almost everyday since she was in her coma. Maria had agreed and decided it would be better to surprise Peter when he came back from Europe.
With her waking up, Tony had decided to have a special family week with just the four of them. It would give Maria time to relax while also being with her family again, and it would be some time for Maria to spend getting to know her younger sister. Although, the two were already forming a strong bond that Tony expected with how much Maria had always begged for a sibling and how Morgan had become attached to Maria ever since she found out about her.
Not only that but Maria had been a bit sad after learning that Natasha had died saving the world and she was deeply upset she had missed her funeral which took place after the fight with Thanos. So to distract her, the small family decided to take some days off of using their technology and had decided to just spend quality time with each other. It seemed like an easy task but Tony definitely had the hardest time adjusting to no technology. Pepper had come up with the idea and was insistent that they have in person quality time so most of the time they had to distract Tony from reaching out to find a phone.
After a technology free quality time, which really wasn't much time, the family of four finally decided they couldn't live without technology especially after they found Pepper sneaking in a phone call even though she was the one most adamant of no technology. The family had decided to watch a movie that night as their first technology usage.
