Chapter 10: Gumdrop
Maria was so nervous she could throw up. She was getting ready for the homecoming dance and she only had about two hours before Peter would come to her door so that they could leave to the dance. Maria had told Peter she could drive them but Happy had insisted he drive them before heading to the Avenger's tower for the last things to be moved tonight. (Maria thinks it was her fathers plan in order for Happy to have a talk with Peter when they got dropped of, from her father of course). Nonetheless Maria didn't care since at least she wouldn't have to drive while wearing her dress.
Maria did her usual routine that she would do when she would accompany her dad to his red carpet events since he always brought her as his plus one. Maria really just went for the food to be honest but spending time with her dad was always a plus also. Maria was just finishing up putting on her red dress which she had only worn once before and seemed the most low key for a high school dance. Maria heard a ding come from her phone so she reached out to read her message knowing it was probably Peter.
Hey I'm about 5 minutes from your place hope you're ready :)
Maria quickly texted him back that she would be waiting for him before stepping out of her room and to the living room where Happy was standing talking on his phone. He paused when he heard her come in and looked over to her.
"Wow look at you, you look nice kid," Happy told her pulling the phone away form his ear.
"Thanks Happy. Peter said he is about 5 minutes away so we should get ready to go soon," Maria told him smiling as she picked up her keys from the side table next to the door.
"Okay just hold on let me show Pepper and Tony how you look," Happy told her as he flipped his phone so she was facing the front of the screen.
"Oh god you facetimed them," Maria groaned irritated as she looked at Pepper and her dad's faces who were crowding the screen trying to catch a glimpse at her.
"Oh Maria you look beautiful!" Pepper squealed through the phone as she put her hand over her mouth in shock.
"Truly beautiful sweetheart, now you tell that kid that he better treat you right or else I-" Maria rolled her eyes as her father began rambling about Peter and what he would do to him if he stepped out of line.
"Thank you Pepper I will call you tomorrow bye bye now," Maria said as she reached out and hit the end call button on Happy's phone.
"You know he's just gonna call back or even send one of his suits to spy on you. I know Tony and he would do that," Happy told her as he put his phone back in his pocket.
"Not if I destroy every suit he sends my way. Maybe then he'll take the hint or at least I hope he does," Maria told him. Happy was about to respond when a knock sounded on the door. Maria smiled happily as she ran to the door pulling it open to see Peter standing there in his grey tux.
