Chapter 11: Family Workout
Maria was in a state of bliss. She had recently started a relationship with Peter after many, many, many months of going on dates while also dealing with Peter's Spider duties. On top of that Maria had more recently started gaining attention in the public eye for being a hero but not too much because she didn't want to be a big hero so she kind of kept herself hidden in the shadows only being seen rarely by those she helped.
Not only that but her dad had recently proposed to Pepper and she had been so ecstatic when she found out she blew up every window in her father's office when her powers malfunctioned from her excitement. After telling her the news though, Pepper and Maria had been planning all aspects of the wedding with the help of Maria's wedding binder she had prepared for Pepper.
On top of that Maria had reconciled her friendships with Wanda and Natasha, not publicly but still, and she had been texting them everyday. They had a group chat where they would share how their days would go everyday. Although recently Wanda had not been replying but Natasha told her it was because she was on vacation with Vision which Maria could understand why she was too busy to text if you get what she's trying to say. Would Wanda being with Vision technically make Wanda her sister in law since technically speaking, Vision was sort of her brother?
Anyway this morning Maria had woken up to a sweet good morning text from Peter who was going on a school trip so he told her he would be busy until after school. Then she was rudely interrupted by her dad who burst into her room and told her to get up so that the two of them, and Pepper, could go on a family "jogging session" whatever that was.
So now here Maria was running, and struggling might she add, to keep up with Pepper and her dad who apparently were experts in jogging for some reason, and panting like a dog sluggishly running behind them. After 40 minutes of jogging she couldn't take it anymore she felt like if she didn't stop, then she would pass out.
"Can we just... just... hold on for a minute. I need to... I need to catch... my breath," Maria panted out as Pepper and Tony stopped jogging and turned to look at Maria who was bent forward hands on her knees, red faced, sweat covered, and panting.
"Sweetheart you really need to get more exercise because this is not a good look right now," Tony told her as he emphasized his words with gestures toward her position at the moment.
"Listen I would rather be inside doing anything but exercise and plus I don't know how YOU are even doing this right now I have your lack of exercising genes in me," Maria told him as she finally caught her breath and drank out of her water bottle.
"Oh, he was like you when we first started jogging but I whipped him into shape," Pepper told her fiancé with a teasing tone as they began play fighting. Maria smiled before turning her attention to the new message she just received. Her dad and Pepper walked ahead of her as she read the message she got from Peter.
