Chapter 21: Expect Disappointment

Maria had been more upset than usual. This would have to be because of the fact that while her and Peter were out of legal trouble, her dad was certainly not. Tony and Pepper had been under heavy investigation making their job of trying to live a normal and peaceful life with their children harder than it needed to be. Because of that, Tony had asked Maria to lay low and not be seen with Peter as much, at least until the FBI and DODC laid off their backs for a bit. So, Maria had been forced to communicate with Peter mostly through their cell phones.

Luckily though, her dad did not ask the same of her seeing Michelle, so the two would often hang out. Michelle had also been prohibited from seeing Peter, but she managed to stand up to her parents. Although she did watch how often she hung out with him since her parents were still worried Michelle would be in trouble being around him. The two girls had been facing a lot of backlash along with Ned, even when they weren't around Peter. So, the whole group had been dealing with some rough publicity.

Today, Peter had texted her that he, Michelle, and Ned were meeting up at Michelle's job since they had all received their letters from MIT saying if they got in or not. Peter asked Maria if she would come and she was, until her parents asked her to watch over Morgan while they went to speak to their lawyer. Maria obviously agreed, and told Peter she wouldn't be able to make it, but would be down to be there via FaceTime. So, here she was playing outside with Morgan a game of the Princess, the Knight, and the Dragon. Their new dog named Fish played the Dragon, Morgan the Princess, and Maria the Knight.

"Oh, Knight Maria, you are so brave and valiant for saving me! I would like to formally induct you to be my royal Knight!" Maria laughed as Morgan tapped Maria's shoulders with her fake sword.

"Thank you Princess Morgan, I will forever be thankful! Now I demand payment for my sacrifice," Maria told her sister as seriously as she could as she stood straighter while still remaining on her knees to be on eye level with Morgan.

"What payment do you request, brave Knight?" Morgan played along as she fixed her tiara.

"I request... a tickle party!" Maria said as she pulled her sister into her arms and began tickling her as Morgan laughed her head off.

"SCOOBY NO!"Morgan screamed laughing as she tried to free herself from her sister's grasp. Maria laughed at her sister before they were interrupted by Maria's phone ringing, making Maria pull it out of her pocket.

"Who is it Scooby?" Morgan asked as she noticed Maria looking down at her phone with a smile.

"It's Peter, he is going to find out if he got into college along with our friends," Maria explained as Morgan oh'ed.

"Hey, Pete," Maria said, smiling into the phone as Peter's face popped up from inside the coffee shop that Michelle worked at.

"Hey, Mj," Peter greeted back with a smile.
