It was already filled with some students waiting for the exam to begin. It was the first time in a while where Yami had been in a room full of students. The last time she was in grade school.
The thought of it sent a shiver down her spine, scrunching her nose in discomfort at the memory. She kept her hands in her pockets and continued forward.
Here, there were no eyes on her, everyone was minding their own business, chatting with one another and already making friends. She noticed a white table up ahead that seated an adult with a sign that said, 'CHECK IN' with large and bold letters.
Yami walked up, and the male greeted her, not with softness, but loudness. "HELLO THERE MISS! PLEASE STATE YOUR NAME!"
She was taken aback by the booming echo his voice emitted, 'This guy is extremely noisy', she thought.
"Mei Kurayami."
Her voice was gentle and soft, but also loud enough to grab the attention of a certain someone.
His ear perked up a little when he heard her say her own name, but he only scoffed in annoyance. What about that girl was he supposed to be worried about? What had his father made him think she was a threat?
There was absolutely nothing about her that he deemed as threatening. What threw him off was her kindness towards her fans, but he only brushed it off as 'that would be how any famous person would treat their fans'. It wasn't the case in this situation.
He could somehow hear it in her voice. As cliche as it may sound, he swore he could not see or hear one single thing about her that was supposedly threatening. She was only an aspiring hero, most likely to be like her brother.
I mean, she did get in through recommendations. She was doing the same test as he was.
So what was it about her that Endeavor is so worked up about?
"Hey, you're Endeavor's son, right?" A voice he recognized immediately pulled him out of his thoughts. He looked up to see who decided to annoy him, and low and behold.
"Don't call me his son." He scowled. He was seated on a bench by the entrance, secluded from everyone else in the room. He averted his eye contact with the girl, who was still trying to get him to talk.
"Geez, someone has an attitude..." She stated as she sat down on the same bench as him. She casually leaned back, crossing her legs in boredom. Bouncing up and down.
"Find somewhere else to sit." Still not making eye contact, his elbows met his knees and his fingers intertwined with each other. He looked as if he didn't want to be here, or even be bothered.
Already annoyed by the tone in his voice, she sat up and straightened herself. Shifting her body to be slightly facing him. "If you're going to shoo me away, at least you could make eye contact with me instead of being a coward about it. I hate people who're indirect in their actions." Todoroki's eyes widened at her comment, and angrily looked up to face her with irritability. His mouth was slightly open like he was about to say something to her, but he stopped.
Her face looked disappointed, like she was expecting Todoroki to be a little bit more direct in his actions instead of avoiding conflict. The corners of her mouth were slightly pointed downwards, her arms crossed her chest and she leaned her side into the backside of the bench.
"What?" Her eyes narrowed as she teased. She leaned forward towards his figure, but not too close to the point he was uncomfortable. She knew physical boundaries. Verbal? She had no filter at some points. "Cat got your tongue?"
He had no words. Her boldness was beyond his expectations for him to even return a word to her. "No matter. It's good to know that there's someone in the world who takes a dislike to me, especially coming from the Todoroki line!" She sounded moved.
