Yami's POV
"Is this some kind of... joke?" My shoulders slumped over and I raised my eyebrows in annoyance as I checked the board of who I would be going up against.
Then, I felt an arm wrap around my shoulders and a body near my own. Of course, I figured it was none other than Kaminari.
"Wow, looks like I'll be going up against one of the prettiest and fiercest girls in the class! I'm ready for that experience," I quickly shoved his arm off my body and created some distance between us. Curse Kaminari and his terrible flirting antics.
"And I'm ready to listen to your horrible pick-up lines during our match. It'll definitely make a scene in front of the entire stadium when I kick your ass."
Not only did I want to beat that air-head for the sake of winning, but also for the sake of making an embarrassment out of him for all the girls who didn't like his extra friendliness. He can be a sympathetic kid sometimes, but on the other hand, he's like Mineta but less creepy.
Just overly confident in himself is all.
"Haha! Kaminari you're gonna get your ass kicked in your round!" Mina came up to us and teased the yellow-haired boy. "Mei has some real stuff with her, there's no way you can beat that,"
I chuckled at the entertainment before me. Mina adjusted herself so she was facing us. The other students began to congregate around the board, and once some saw who they were up against, they left.
One of those people I noticed was Todoroki, and he was going up against Sero.
Which made me think... I needed to speak with him after that chat I had with Endeavor.
"You okay Mei? Your face looks a little... uh," Mina pointed out at my stern-looking expression from the thought of Endeavor. I shook my head in surprise and waved my hands in defense.
"Sorry about that, just thinking of strategies."
"Great lie..."
"Well! How about I meet you guys upstairs in the viewing area, yeah?" I suggested as I pointed to the stairs that were right down the hall. Both Kaminari and Mina nodded their heads in unison.
"Sure! We'll see you up there," Then they waved, and were off.
I let out a heavy sigh. For a moment when I was speaking with Endeavor, I completely forgot about my deal with Mori. It was an important contract and I let it slip my mind?
I needed to find a secluded space or a storage closet and think to myself for a little before the round starts and go into this part of the festival almost blind.
I shook my head to get rid of the anxious feeling and turned on my heel. To my surprise, Momo was standing right behind me.
And she looked like she wanted to say something, but also looked incredibly nervous to do so.
"Momo! What's up?"
It looked like she hesitated to find the right words, but she pursed her lips and made direct eye contact with me, "I just... wanted to wish you luck for your round,"
"I noticed something during the Cavalry battle that I couldn't shake away, especially after you explained a part of your past to me," She began.
I did also mention to Momo before the sports festival about my past, but not everything. I didn't want to overwhelm her, and I didn't want to make the same mistake I did with Todoroki.
This is completely different. And she understands.
But I feel not on the same level as Todoroki does.
