Yami's POV
"Now, this first group are no strangers to the spotlight! You all know them for withstanding a villain attack; the dazzling students with solid gold skills: Hero Course students of Class 1-A!"
Our class was gathered in our tunnel to enter the first-year stage. Today marked the very beginning of many pathways opened up for all of us, that is if anyone can catch the attention of Pro-Heroes looking for a good sidekick.
I followed the rest of my classmates out on the field, and when I first stepped onto the patch of grass, I could instantly feel the eyes of the entire world on us.
Interviews and modeling shoots were different, way different than having an entire stadium along with mass media filming your every move. I always stayed behind the wings of Keigo for the entirety of my life, making my appearance known when needed and very little when it came to my decision.
This time, I was going to shine on my own.
I was used to the attention, just not this much of it. But just as Keigo said: keep a smile on for the camera because everyone will be watching.
Yeah, like that would calm my nerves any time soon.
"You look a little shaken, Yami. Are you okay?" Momo asked, concerned as she walked beside me while we all made our way to the center of the stage to await further instruction. "I would have assumed you got used to things like this."
I rubbed my shoulder, "I did not expect this many people to be present... in person." I looked around to see and hear the large crowd before us, screaming and cheering us on as the other courses began to enter.
The whole world would be watching us, meaning I can't make any kind of slip-ups during this. I would really have to give it all that I have.
The other hero course, class B, also joined us along with the rest of the first years: general studies, support classes, and business classes, which I raised an eyebrow at. It made me wonder how people in the business course would even do well in this festival, but most of them seemed to not even want to be there anyway.
All the first-years finally gathered to the center stage where Midnight stood before all of us on an elevated platform. I heard several conversations about her outfit and whether or not it would be appropriate at a high school game for everyone to see.
I didn't really care much, it didn't affect me in any way so I let it be.
"Silence everybody!" Midnight would be the chief referee for the festival. She wielded a flogger-style whip, guessing it would be used with her quirk in case there would be any issues with the players and she would need to take immediate action.
"And now for the first-year pledge from... Bakugo Katsuki!" All uneasy eyes turned to the hothead who kept his hands in his pockets and head held up. Bakugo had an unamused face like always.
An annoyed exhale left my lips and I leaned over to Momo, "Is that kid really our entire class rep?" I crossed my arms as I watched him take the steps to reach the mic on the raised platform.
"I would guess he is. From what I've heard he came in first in the regular entrance exams." Momo was also curious about Bakugo.
"Yeah, for the Hero Course." We heard a voice coming from the crowd behind us, and it turns out Kaminari and a few others were discussing the same thing we were. She replied to the small group, and I continued to listen to their agreement.
"Well, she definitely hates us." Sero commented, a little annoyed at how the other courses talk about our class.
"Yeah, and it's all thanks to Bakugo's personality that everyone hates our class."
