Yami's POV
Navigating through the robot's legs from the bottom was no easy task. It consisted of constant calculations and predictions that most of the time was difficult to come to a conclusion for.
Escaping the situation would be the best bet, and fighting would be my second option if there were any kind of mishaps that would happen from underneath.
I was rapidly flying through the legs, zig-zagging my way through. I approached a heavy leg from one of the larger robots and it tried to block my path, but I unraveled my dark matter and emitted a thick amount.
I motioned my quirk to wrap around the leg; and as I dodged its movements, I managed to rip off the leg entirely, throwing it to the side. This time, I wrapped my dark matter close to my body, covering my uniform. It made me look like a random figure with a dark void that blanketed my body from any kind of harm from the exterior.
"WOAH! DID YOU GUYS SEE THAT??? Mei Kurayami took first place after completely ripping off one of the robot's legs with her quirk! What kind of things are you teaching in that class, Mr. Aizawa?"
"Absolutely nothing."
I took first place, but not too long after, I heard a gracious amount of ice forming from behind me. I took a glance back to see Todoroki had frozen the robots in place, and I saw his figure slowly emerging from the cold ice particles. A loud crash and bang followed after I saw his body fully.
His power is to never be underestimated.
I had to increase my speed once more as he began to catch up to me using his quick ice path.
No more funny banters. It was time to get more serious.
I finally unwrapped myself from my dark matter and flew normally, still at the same pace to keep my first-place standing. I noticed a change in scenery and immediately halted to take a look.
It was the next part of the obstacle race. Present Mic hasn't announced it because I wasn't part of the mass majority of the first-years to experience it. I was one of the very first. It was a series of random islands that were rooted from what looked like a bottomless pit that I would guess no one wanted to end up falling in. Thin wires connected each of these islands, which meant people who didn't have accessible quirks like mine would definitely have a hard time getting across.
And Todoroki was not far behind which meant I had to act quickly.
I looked behind me to see a familiar boy using his ice to follow close. I had no choice but to fly over this one as well. I ran back a little so I can have some momentum when I launch myself off the ground to fly.
Mental note to work on how I would have a starting ground when it came to this part of my quirk.
I started with a sprint and took one big step on the ground; emitting some dark matter to help me get off the ground and fly, I was finally in the air and regained balance.
From there, I rapidly flew over the canyon with ease. I looked behind me to see Todoroki was just using his quirk to get over to the first island. I was way far ahead of him which was good, but I knew he could easily overtake me within a matter of moments with any wrong moves I were to make.
After this last section would be where I would have to use my quirk carefully. Because I felt like I was already at my own limit and very close to the danger zone of my quirk.
I reached the other end and decided to take the rest of the course on foot. I could hear Todoroki already gaining up on me. He probably knew how much I wore myself out with the first two parts of the race, and he was at an advantage for first place.
