Chapter 5
Simply Standard

The Motels in Mystic Falls were standard.

Simply standard.

She had never exactly done lush living, it was more comfortable living. And by the day, more and more reasons were arising to hate the strangely supernatural town.

She stared a the broken spine of War And Peace. She hadn't reread a book so much in her life as she had in the past week.

Ever since her run-in with Klaus, she couldn't bear to leave her Motel room. She was almost certain if he saw her again there would be no second chance, no time to run, he would tear her heart straight from her chest and that would be that.

She'd just be another one of Klaus Mikaelson's victims. She probably wouldn't even make it on a list.

A knock came on her door and as she went to answer it she remembered no one was meant to know she was there. She stepped back, fading into the shadows.

The hammering on the door only increased.

Whoever, it was, they were desperate to get in. And there was no good reason for it.

The door shattered in two as a man appeared in her doorway, rage in his eyes and bloodlust in his soul.

"Ah sha lana" she declared, watching him crumble to the ground in pain. "Who sent you" she demanded, glaring down at their hunched over bodies.

"Katherine" he chocked, shaking under the crushing pain in his head.

"I would get you to send her a message of me but you're not leaving this room alive" she declared, glaring down at his body crumbled down on the ground.

"She will send more" he choked, blood pouring from his lips but she didn't stop. "She will kill you!" he screamed.

"I'll get her first" she muttered. "Ossox."

His neck snapped clean in two his cold corpse falling to the floor. She looked at his body, unmoving.

He was right.

She was a loose end.

She was as good as dead.

The sound of motors drummed in her ears, moving down the roads, all around her. It was aggravating at least. The drilling into thin metal sheets, as the construction continued was horrific to her ears.

She looked at the chipped red paint of the lorry for a moment before carrying on.

She whirled around as she heard the sound, of something dropping. The kicking of metal began and when she looked back there was a man lurking in the shadows.

She didn't bother trying to fight as she tried to run back down the path she had come along but she was too late, as his hand latched around her throat slamming her into a lorry.

It was mere seconds till she couldn't breathe. She gasped out for air clawing at his fist, clenching around her throat. Her eyes blurred and she stared up at the grey sky, begging for it to end.

He launched her onto the ground, her forehead hitting the concrete and her coordination was gone, she swung her ankle catching his foot knocking him off his balance but there was no impact.

"Have care mate" an all too familiar voice hissed. "That's no way to treat a lady."

He hissed out, driving his fangs into the man's throat, poisoning him, condemning him to a fate far worse than death. When he didn't stop, she was convinced he would kill the vampire. That was until he threw him into a lorry.

She turned around to see him, relishing in the taste of the poisoned blood.

His neck crooked to the side as he looked down at her in disappointment.

The glare she returned was enough to make even the devil quake. "You came" she huffed, brushing her dishevelled hair away from her face.

"Well you did say it was urgent" he replied, smirking down at her with a bloody grin.

He offered her a hand, pulling her up from the ground. Yet, she couldn't take her eyes off the vampire rolling around on the floor, in pain. As though he could feel her eyes on him, he sped away, into the distance.

Klaus stared at him for a moment, before turning back to her. "Don't worry about him, love, he'll never make it through tomorrow night" he smirked.

"I know how werewolf toxin works" she snapped, back. "What if there's more" she muttered, her stomach churning at the thought of a lifetime of running from vampires.

Any humour within him seemed to slip away. "You were foolish enough to make a deal with Katerina Petrova" he declared, his tone hard and stern. "She used you to find the cure and now your nothing but a loose end, you'll be lucky if she lets you live."

"You said you would protect me" she spat, pushing past him but he grabbed her wrist, pulling him back to her.

"And I will" he swore, holding her tight. "Just as soon as you tell me everything you know about Katerina" he declared his classic smirk curling over her lips.

"I'm being serious Klaus" she snapped back, snatching her wrist away from him.

"As I said, I'll protect you but I'm not a man who works for free" he taunted. "Stay with me. No one will come for you, I can promise that much."

"Fine" she muttered. She walked down the road, towards the car park, before stopping again. "But don't expect to be luring me into your bed Mr Hybrid because it takes more than sweet words to harbour me. Try some roses" she winked.

A small chuckle fell through his bloodstained lips.

Damon Salvatore barged into the house, strutting into the living room. It took everything in Klaus not to rip his head off on the spot.

"So I just came up with a list. It's called things you suck at" he declared smirking at the hybrid.

Klaus didn't reply.

"Number one: Finding Katherine. Ever. Number two: Covering up your secret phone conversations with that little backstabbing witch Andrea" he listed, smirking at Klaus, again. "So. Where is she? And what does she know about Katherine."

"I should help you?" Kalus challenged, glaring at the elder Salvatore brother. "After, you killed my brother, imprisoned me in the Gilbert living room."

"You might want to prioritise Klaus. You have much bigger problems" Damon snapped back.

Klaus stared at him for a moment.

"Katherine has the cure" Damon declared. Klaus' head tilted to the side, like a warning. "My guess is she's gonna want to cram it down your throat. You help me find Katherine, I'll get the cure, I'll give it to Elena, everybody wins" he declared, raising an eyebrow at the hybrid. "Just let me question Andrea about Katherine" he pleased.

Klaus smirked, walking past the vampire and throwing himself down onto his sofa. "Can't help you mate. Andrea's off-limits" he smirked.

Damon went to answer but Klaus had, had enough.

"Although, I did have a run-in with a vampire who may know where Katerina is" he declared, glancing over at the vampire. "Too bad I bit halfway through his bloody neck. He probably won't have much time for chitchat."

"Klaus -"

"Get out mate" Klaus ordered. "Andrea's off-limits, it is what it is. I find the little witch rather intriguing."

Damon didn't reply storming out of the house.

"Thank you" Andrea declared, appearing around the corner of the room.

"We made a deal love."

This Chapter is pretty much filler, that just sets up for the next chapter but these scenes are too close to my heart, to leave out.
