Chapter 15
Realisation
"In vain I have struggled, it will not do" Klaus recited. "My feels will not be repressed," he said, meeting her eyes for a moment. "You must allow me to tell you, how ardently I admire you and love you" he recited, shutting the book and staring at her.
She smiled at him, a laugh falling through her lips. "Pride and Prejudice?" she asked.
"It's a classic" he smirked.
She looked at the broken spine, of the book. "How old is that particular copy?" she asked.
"First edition, love" he grinned. "Jealous?" he teased.
A laugh fell through her lips. "I'm a bit of a nerd" she replied. "But my books are in far better condition."
"It's not the condition that matters love. It's the joy, the fondness you hold for the literature. A book that's falling apart, from the love it's received, is better than a book left in perfect condition on a shelf."
The smile never left her lips, as she met his piercing gaze. "Poetic," she said.
"Nikaus!" Elijah yelled, the sound of his feet, echoing through the house.
"Oh, bloody hell" Klaus muttered.
"I'll leave you to that" she whispered, getting up off the sofa, trying to avoid the Mikaelson drama.
"Don't" Elijah declared, stepping into the room. "We must discuss the matter at hand."
"What era are you from?" Andrea asked, looking over his suit. "Like genuinely, I get, your a thousand but have you not evolved with the times?"
She heard a chuckle slip through Klaus' lips, as she fell back onto the sofa next to him, smirking up at Elijah. "Niklaus, please control her" Elijah demanded, sitting down, opposite too them.
Elijah pulled a note out of his pocket, handing it to Andrea.
Come to the New
Orleans cemetery,
tonight.
- Agnes
"What is this?" she asked, tossing the note onto the floor.
"It's Agnes demanding to see you" Elijah declared. "What do you know?"
She stared at the original, in shock, trying her hardest not to laugh. "Really?" she chuckled. "Are you accusing me of something, Elijah?"
"I don't know" he replied, calmly.
"Elijah" Klaus warned.
"No, it's fine" Andrea snapped, crossing her arms, leaning back into the sofa. "Accuse me, Elijah. Go on."
"Have you made a deal with the New Orleans witches?" Elijah asked.
"Have I made a deal with the New Orlean's witches?" she repeated, pretending to be deep in thought.
The proposition was laughable.
"When I was, five, the New Orleans witches, killed my mother in cold blood" she declared. "They bathed in it. Literally. And then I was an orphan a week later" she stated, staring into his eyes. "So no, I have no reason to trust them, Elijah" she snarled.
"I was unaware of -"
Klaus drew a deep breath, clenching his jaw, as he stared at his older brother.
"You were unaware because you never asked" she snapped at him. "I didn't just become a werewitch, Elijah. Even monsters have families" she said, a shake in her voice. She heard Klaus' breath steady.
"Then tell me, how Marcel is controlling the witches?" Elijah asked.
"Do I look like, a bloody New Orleans witch?" she gritted out. "Ask him yourself."
"You see, I would love to but he seems to have become, rather cautious of me and my brother, as of lately. But you ... he has no idea who you are" Elijah declared.
He was far too calm for her linking.
"I know him. And, I don't want to know anymore" she simply said.
"Marc -"
"That's enough" Klaus snapped, glaring at his brother. "Andrea, please give me and Elijah the room. We need to have a little chat" he declared.
"Gladly" she muttered, heading into the corridor.
"Why would you do that?" Klaus asked.
"What have I done, other than try to make peace on your behalf Niklaus. I saved that girl and her child. It is thanks to me that she is still alive brother" he declared. "I thought you would find the capacity to be grateful, for my assistance."
"You've gone too far Elijah," Klaus declared, glaring at him. "And I will not let you put her at risk."
"What have I done to endanger her Niklaus?" Elijah asked, staring at him in disbelief. "I saved her life, while you were being far too self-centred to see anything more than your own selfish desires and, want for power. I saved her."
"Brother," Klaus said, pulling a dagger out of his pocket, as he walked towards him.
"No."
"Like I said, brother. I won't let you hurt her" he declared, plunging the dagger into his heart, as he screamed out, begging for his mercy. "No one will hurt her."
Klaus let his brother's decicated body, drop to the ground cold, and half dead. He didn't hesitate as he headed down the hall after Andrea. Elijah couldn't wait. Marcel could wait. All of New Orleans could wait. He just needed her to be safe.
He stopped at the door when he saw Andrea staring in the mirror, her hand on her stomach. Lost in her own thoughts. She looked peaceful if not anything. And, as a lonely tear ran down her cheek, he realised just how unprepared she was.
"Andrea" he whispered.
She whirled around, panic on her face, but she relaxed the second her eyes laid on him. "Klaus" she whispered. He smiled as he headed over to her, he couldn't take his eyes off her stomach.
"Are you ready?" he asked.
"Ready for what?" she asked, staring at him, unsure.
"Are you ready to be a mother, Andrea?" he asked.
She took a deep breath, as the realisation hit her.
Everything had been fine, while her mind was too preoccupied with the witches and the Mikaelson family drama, that had sent a hurricane through her life, in a matter of weeks. It was only when the question, fell through Klaus' lips, that she knew she had to face the harsh reality before her.
She was going to be a mother.
Of course, she could easily stop that but she didn't want to.
"Klaus, my mother never had a chance to raise me. Not really. I need you to promise me, that ..." her hand fell back to her stomach. "... this child. This child will have a better chance than we did. She won't lose us, Klaus. Swear."
"I promise" he replied, without hesitation. "No one will hurt them. We will build an army, to keep them safe."
"And Elijah?" she asked.
"He won't be a problem" Klaus swore.
"What have you done Klaus" she sighed.
"Andrea ... he was questioning too much and Marcel was getting antsy. Something had to be done."
"I'm not telling you off Klaus" she muttered. "I just know you're reckless," she replied, nudging past him and heading down the corridor as he watched, longingly.
