Chapter 61
Ready To Go
Klaus refused to leave her side, holding her hand for every single second, when Hope cried he brought her with him and when Freya asked for advice he refused. Even when news of hundreds of vampires coming after him reached his ears, he didn't consider leaving, for a second.
She was alive, breathing slowly but her magic was swirling around, the most lethal poison waiting to destroy her. No matter how morbid it was, he refused to leave her like she refused to leave him. If the end of their story, was his death and her survival he could live with that. As long as she made it, he would be fine, no matter what came their way.
Aurora was securely trapped behind a wall and a barrier, knowing that he was happy. Happier without her. Happier than he'd ever been. While she was rotting away.
He didn't know where Davina was and he didn't have much care, for her. Although, he knew Andrea would be going straight for her throat the second she woke up. Her love was too much for her own good. Much to his disappointment, he knew they wouldn't be chasing down the witch to tear her throat out, only verbally.
It only took Hope two days, to notice there was something wrong.
Freya crept around the corner, seeing him in the same position he was in the day before. "Are you alright?" she asked him, peeking her head around the corner.
His eyes didn't even glance over to her. "I'm fine" was his curt response.
She struggled to find the words for a moment too long, for his liking. "The mystic energy, we were talking about the other day ..."
It didn't take a genius to tell something was wrong. "Freya, what is it" he demanded.
She handed him a piece of parchment covered in magical symbols. "I can't even touch her, Klaus, she's burning with magic. Enough magic to kill the strongest witch, even me" she confessed to him.
"But she's not dead, she's alive" he protested.
"Exactly" she sighed, pointing to one of the symbols. "That is a nexus vorti, it was prophecised by the New Orleans witches only three days after Andrea was born and months before Hope was born" she explained to him.
"How do you know this" he muttered, not daring to let go of Andrea's hand for a second.
"When the Strix witches fled, they left behind all the information Davina brought with her, these Nexus Vortis were one of them" she exemplified. "Now, I'm not saying that that is what's happened but this" she pointed to another symbol "means anguish, so to say."
He nodded, running a finger along her wrist, he could still feel her pulse but they both knew her mind was far from active. He could see that Freya wanted to touch her but with the consequence of being shocked, she didn't dare.
"I don't want to give you anything more to worry about but that red light yo -"
"Not light" he corrected her. He could still feel the impact of whatever she had done, he couldn't imagine the pain she was in if she had spread her power so thinly, with such strength. "It was power, pure power. It was ... something else" he didn't know how to describe it but part of him didn't want to.
Freya glanced over her sleeping body before taking back the piece of paper she'd given him. "If - when she wakes up, I'll try and figure out what's going on" she promised him, laying a hand on his shoulder. "Get some sleep?" she asked him.
He didn't both with replying because they both knew, he never would. There was no point in lying to Freya, after all. So, after a moment of watching him, she gave in and walked away, pulling the door shut behind her.
