Chapter 63
"How much of an ego do you have to have to call your company Kingmakers Land Development she mumbled glancing out of the window to the building that looked just like the last dozen they had been to. "Almost as big as yours" she grinned.
Klaus chuckled, shaking his head. "Never miss an opportunity to insult me, do you."
"Never" she smiled opening the door and looking at the boring building. "I'm not an architect or anything but I think I could do a much better job" she commented.
Klaus appeared next to her staring at the building. "Well they've all got the same generic abstract art, same compellable receptionist" he declared, with a grin she knew all too well.
"You sure you shouldn't be with Finn and Elijah right now, I can do this by myself" she tried to persuade him to leave for the thousandth time. She knew it would kill the both of them if something happened to Freya that they could have prevented. Even if that meant letting Lucien get everything he wanted.
Without saying a word he shook his head, worming his arm around her waist. "I'm not leaving you," he said like he had so many times. "I can promise you that much."
She knew it was all too true but they were against the clock. "Let's end this" she murmured, taking his arm and the two of them headed into the building with two sadistic grins.
The game was over and she knew they could only be sent on a hunt for wolves for so long. Lucien was good, but he wasn't that good.
When they reached the doors of the reception Klaus held the door open for her gesturing for her to go inside. "Lady's first" he grinned. She shook her head with a chuckle before stepping inside her eyes set on the receptionist.
"Ah, hello, love" he greeted the receptionist, at that moment she wished looks could kill. "We're here for a spot of search and potentially destroy. Do tell, where are the areas off-limits to general staff" he compelled her. She watched the two of them with a steady gaze.
She smiled back like every other receptionist. "You just wait right here" she declared leaning back "and I'll have someone out here to help you with your inquiry" and then her facade dropped. She leant forward as red lights and alarms began to blare followed by armed guards.
Bingo.
She looked over to Klaus when they were surrounded. "Shall we?"
He shrugged, with a fabulous twinkle in his eyes. "Well, ladies first" he declared with a wave of his hand.
The details supposed her once she charged into the crowd being hit by a few bullets but they strangely didn't hurt, just pushed her further. Blood hadn't repulsed her in a long time, instead, it made her want to wear it more. It would probably concern her if she didn't enjoy ripping their heads off so much.
She knew Klaus had joined in at some point but it was only when she threw the final guard through a window that she realised how quickly they had worked.
They didn't have to say anything to each other when they headed off to find what they were trying so desperately to guard.
Fortunately, they found a man and Klaus snapped his neck with a happy grin before heading down the corridor. When they walked through the doors she swore she could feel her heart in her throat.
Wolves were tied around the walls of the room, masks on their faces and she hated to think what they were for.
"They're all wolves" she pointed out, glancing around the room unable to comprehend what she was seeing. She headed over to one of the wolves looking at the contraption in his face and hesitantly running a hand down his cheek. She jumped drawing a deep breath when she saw his eyes flash yellow, learning forwards.
