Chapter 42
Night Has A Thousand Eyes
"Klaus please" Andrea sighed, beginning to develop a dull headache.
"I saw her Andrea" he persisted. "She was in this very room, saying she had been watching me and that it wasn't over. What does that even mean?"
"I don't know Nik but my mother can not resurrect the dead" she replied.
"She made the spell didn't she?" he said, carrying on.
"She was a powerful witch Nik, I can't deny that but she never brought the dead back," she said, glaring at him.
"How about your father then" he retorted. "He was brought back, resurrected by her wasn't he."
"My dad hasn't been resurrected he's- he's on a time limit. He only has so long and by our calculation, he had about two months" she said.
"She was here, Andrea!" he persisted.
She sighed, laying a hand on his shoulder. "My mother likes to taunt. She always has. She will not be any harm to us. Why don't we go out" she proposed. "Take Hope around the city and I can prove to you, that my mother is not assaulting your mind."
"No."
"For me," she asked, pouting at him.
He glared at her before giving in, as usual. "Fine" he snarled. "But if anything happens we come straight back" he declared.
"I promise," she said, but she was lying really.

"You know, considering your self-proclaimed King of New Orleans, you never really leave the Compound," Andrea said.
"Well, I don't need to" he shrugged. "Besides I don't associate with the rif raf."
Andrea laughed, as they carried on down the street.
"Wel thank you for doing this, with me," she said, smiling at him.
He didn't reply as a slow song began.
"I know that song" she muttered, glancing around the street. A blackboard read a promise made is a debt to be paid, she could tell from one look the boy writing it had been bewitched.
"Nik" she whispered, nodding over at it.
"Flowers Miss?" a man asked, startling her as he appeared before her. "A gift for the child" he offered.
"No" Andrea snapped, reaching down to stop him from touching Hope or anyone, for that matter.
"Are you sure?" he asked, as the wind began to pick up. "Black Dahlia's are in bloom."
Andrea pushed past him, undoing Hope from the buggy, and holding her tight in her arms, as she looked sceptically at the man.
Klaus suddenly grabbed the man's throat, pushing him away from her. "Show yourself, witch" he snarled.
"I am here" another man declared, his eyes glazed over white. "I am everywhere," he said, cynically. "And I intend to take what is mine."
"It's her," Klaus said.
The man's enchantment broke as he stumbled back, muttering an apology, before rushing off.
"Dahlia."

"What we experienced was a test" Klaus declared. "She's watching us to see how we react. She's preparing for battle. My guess is sooner, rather than later."
