Chapter 37

Wake Up!

The wind rushed through the Beau as a lone Tribrid trod over the remains of her discarded family. The scent of rotting flesh was thick in the air, as bones rolled down the hill like they were twigs, they were as common as them, after all.

A spell was hissed under her breath, as her blood polled into the dirt, breaking the magical bond protecting the tomb as she walked right in.

She ignored the stench as she headed down the slim corridor until she reached the crescent section of the crypt. Except, the stone had been thrown off its hinges, lying flat on the ground.

It wasn't a break-in, it was the complete opposite. Someone had broken out of the tomb.

The laugh that tore through her throat was completely inhuman. She cackled like a madwoman, as she stared at the empty crypt.

The wolves of New Orleans had risen.

Andrea was rummaging through the papers, her parents had left behind in the Beau, but when she opened the broken locked drawer, she realised there was nothing left in it.

She snapped, screaming, as she launched her mother's grimoire at the wall, as a few stray tears ran down her cheeks.

"Stop it!" she screamed. "Stop, playing with me!" she yelled, at the top of her lungs. Her chest rise and fell rapidly as she panted for air. "Stop it" she cried, her mind going numb.

Her phone began to ring and she glanced down to see Hayley's name.

"Hi" she answered, refusing to let herself cry again. Especially, not to Hayley.

There was a pause before Hayley replied. "Are you alright?" she asked, she could hear the compassion, clear in her voice.

"Yes, I'm fine" she replied.

"Are you sure?" Hayley asked.

"I said, I'm fine" she snapped.

"Okay," she murmured. "We have a witch problem, and you know I hate to ask these things of you, but we really need your help" she explained.

"What's wrong? Where are you?" Andrea asked.

"I'm at the compound with a bunch of wolves and vampires, and Finn has locked us in here because Klaus took Esther" she explained. "Kol and Davina have tried but they're not strong enough but you ..."

"Are a mythical Tribrid creature, channelling a whole bloodline" she answered.

"I thought you were channelling Klaus?" Hayley asked.

"That broke when I died" she admitted. "Tell Finn, where Esther is and it will buy me some time," she told her. "I'll see you soon Hayley," she said hanging up.

She walked out of the hut, concentrating on her hearing, desperately trying to find a sign of someone else being there. "Where are you!" she yelled. There was no answer. "I know you are here, stop playing games with me!"

Just like before, there was nothing, to be heard. If he was there, then he wasn't letting anyone find him any time soon.

"Fuck!" she screamed, kicking a log across the Beau, all the way into the river.
