Chapter 31
Mikaelson Family Dinner

"Why don't you say what you came here to say, so this wretched night can end" Klaus declared.

"It pains me, that you and Elijah look at me, itch such disdain" Esther declared. "I wish you could see, that, my every action, has been to protect you."

"You actually believe that don't you" Klaus snapped back.

Andrea could see the tears welling in his eyes but didn't say a word.

"I knew you were a liar but now I see you're utterly delusional -"

"If you can forget the hatred that you cling to, and remember all the times I've mended and healed you" she replied.

Klaus laughed leaning back in his chair, as Andrea continued to study him, but he never once met her eyes.

"Elijah do you recall the day, Niklaus, challenged your father to a duel. Did I leave your brother to die alone?" she asked sarcastically. "What did I say, when you came to me?"

Andrea watched Klaus' face drop, and she couldn't stop herself from grabbing his hand, much to her surprise, he let her. She knew all the emotions she had been pushing away were bubbling to the surface but she couldn't just watch him be in so much pain.

"That you would rather die than to watch any of your children suffer," Elijah said, his voice doubtful.

She could see his pain, she could feel it. And then she knew, she could never let him go.

"The neckless" he muttered. "It wasn't spelled to protect me, it made me weak."

"I sought to protect you" Esther replied. "From yourself, if you would have killed your father in that duel, you would have activated your curse."

He let go of her hand, slamming his fist down on the table. "You ruined me. You left me to suffer, at the hands of a father, who valued only strength," he spat.

"I kept you from becoming a beast for as long as I possibly could" she argued.

"No, you lied to me!" he screamed, a tear falling down his face, as his voice broke under the weight of his pain. "To hide your own transgressions, cause of your own fear!" he yelled, kicking the chair back and standing up.

Andrea flinched again but didn't try and stop him, this time. He had to let it go at some point after all. Sometimes, you just have to let your rage take over before you can find any kind of peace.

"My whole life, I sought the approval I was denied by the man, I thought was my father! You turned me into the weakling he hated!" Klaus exclaimed. "Look at me!" he screamed, making Esther finally raise her eyes.

"You rant and you rage about the monster I have become but you mother" he yelled, pointing a finger at her. "You are the author of everything I am."

Esther looked at Andrea for a moment before turning and staring at Finn, taking a deep breath, Elijah ran to her as she suddenly collapsed.

Klaus and Elijah stared at each other, as Elijah said the two words, they were all fearing, "She's gone."

He ran at Finn, getting knocked back instantly, Klaus followed screaming at him, but Finn gave him a migraine before Andrea flung the witch into the wall.

"Keep your hands to yourself" she threatened.

Finn knocked her back, running out of the room.

Andrea could have gone after him but she was more concerned about Hayley, she didn't wait a moment as she called Hayley running down the street. She picked up in moments. "Where are you?" she demanded.
