Chapter 43
Auntsisters
The next morning, Hope was crawling around the floor of the safe house, stopping every few seconds to look at something, her eye had caught on.
Hayley walked in, offering Andrea a cup of tea. She mumbled thanks as the two of them, watched Hope crawl around, smiling gleefully.
"I used to come here with my mother, during festive seasons" Andrea declared, picking up the picture of her four-year-old self, in the arms of her mother. "This was taken, one Christmas," she told her, a tear falling down her cheek. "As a matter of fact, it was our last Christmas."
"I'm sorry" Hayley whispered under her breath, placing a hand on her shoulder.
"No, I'm sorry you never got it" Andrea replied, as Hope crawled over to her feet. "My mother was loving to me but she was always rather sadistic, in many ways. She knew, how to preserve my life. And she did, no matter the price."
Andrea picked up Hope, realising the solemn look on her face. She glanced around the house until she saw vines growing up the wall.
"That's not normal, right," Hayley said, following her.
"No. It's magic and not my magic" she explained.
A few seconds after, flowers started to bloom and it didn't take long for her to realise what they were. "Dahlia's" she murmured. "She knows we're here."
"Shit" Hayley muttered. "We need to go."
"No" she shook her head. "No, this house has been neutralized to magic for over fifty years and my family holds spiritual, contact here, so even she can't even get in, with them here" she explained. "You," she said pointing at one of the wolves. "Go get help" she ordered, as he ran off.
Hayley tried to call, Elijah but the line went dead.
A hissing started around her. "They're here" she muttered, giving Hope to Hayley. "Talk louder, please" she begged.
"You shall win" they hissed.
"No shit" she snapped. "Give me something, useful."
"The vampire" they hissed, as a breeze blew around them, the hissing sound of voices getting louder.
"What does that mean?" Hayley asked.
"I have no idea" Andrea muttered, as Hayley gave her back Hope.
The sound of someone coming closer came and they both knew who it was, deep down.
Heels clicked on the path, leading up to the house, Andrea and Hayley both drew a deep breath as they caught a glance of the swish of a brown jacket. Only moments later, a woman came into view.
Andrea clutched Hope for dear life, as she looked straight into her eyes. She wouldn't be seen, as scared.
She laid a hand on her chest, as though she was shocked. "What a beauty" she commented, looking at Hope, who fell into Andrea's chest. "Hello, my child," she said, with a smile. She took a step forwards realising the magical barrier laid on the ground.
She glared at Hayley in discontent. "I was hoping for a more intimate chat, though I sense by entering, you would have me at a considerable disadvantage" she declared.
"Why don't you come on in, we'd love to show you some hybrid hospitality" Hayley replied.
"I only wanted to see the little one, who has been promised to me. Won't be long now, surely you've noticed that the spell protecting you is growing weaker" she explained.
