Chapter 60

Hope had been crying for hours, and hours, slowly driving her absolutely insane. She had tried everything, hugging her, talking to her, everything in every bloody parenting handbook. Other than her annoying Husband, that was. "Nik!" she screamed, finally having enough. "Nik! Stop being a deadbeat and help me!" she cried out.

It took her a moment of concentrating her hearing to hear Klaus and Elijah bickering, per usual.

She found the two of them bickering in the courtyard. "Aurora has the last of it" Nik declared, not noticing her appearing around the corner.

"Then she dies ... fast" Elijah replied.

"Wonderful" she called down, holding Hope as close to her as she could without suffocating her. "If you wouldn't mind saving that glorious murder spree for later, Hope won't stop crying and you" she pointed at Nik "need to help me deal with it."

It took him a moment to agree with a nod. "five minutes, or she'll kill me anyway" he excused himself, rushing up the stairs to the two of them. "Want me to take her?" he offered.

"Please" she sighed, hanging him Hope as quickly as she could. With a sigh of relief, she headed down the corridor back to the nursery. "Why did I have kids" she groaned to herself, sitting down in a chair.

He laid Hope down, making her fall asleep in almost seconds before grinning slightly. "Well, you see we had a few glasses of bourbon and -"

"Stop" she snapped quickly. "Please, she's three, she walks, she talks and she might remember some of the crap you say in twenty years" she lectured him. "So, please don't traumatize her yet" she sighed, frustrated.

Klaus still grinned, trying not to laugh.

Her phone began to ring and despite her better judgement, she answered it. "Please tell me, this is life or death" she sighed.

"We've found Aurora," the crescent told her.

"You know, you were always my favourite" she replied, hanging up and looking up at Klaus with a grin.

"What is it?" he asked immanently.

She couldn't stop herself from smiling. "The crescents have got Aurora" she informed him.

He smiled back. "I do love our pack" he declared, making her eyes roll.

When she looked down at Hope, she realised there were bigger things going on. "You and Elijah should go" she admitted. "Hope's restless after all, we shouldn't leave her to Freya again" she explained to him.

Like usual, he agreed. "Call me if you need anything?" he asked.

"No, you call me" she demanded, with a pointed glare. He agreed, as normal.

"Right, one more time," she told Hope, holding her hands, and kneeling down. "What is Uncle Elijah?"

"Annoying but he loves Antie Hayley, then you love him" she explained.

She nodded, choosing to ignore how she had mixed up her words. "Perfect" she decided. "And Antie Hayley?" she asked her.

Hope smiled standing up straighter. "Better than- without Uncle Elijah," she said, thoughtfully.

"Right again" she pretended to gasp. A beautiful giggle fell from Hopes' lips and then she remembered the purpose of her life.

"Okay," she said, snapping herself out of her trance. "What about daddy?"

Hope giggled again, grinning. "He's very annoyin' and a twat" she said pridefully.
