I saw the faces of my mom and dad as they came closer to me. Their faces were filled with worries.
I sobbed.
"Sweetie, are you okay?" -mommy
Tumango ako. I don't want to cry, I really don't want.
Daddy kissed me on my forehead, then whispered "Magpagaling ka"
"What happened po?" Tanong ko sa kanila.
My mother sighed before she gave me an answer. "You fell while doing the stunts"
I then felt my warm tears running towards my face.
"How is it? My condition?"
"You had a spine injury"
I will possibly be unable to join the cheering squad again. No athlete with a concussion or spine injury should return to sports unless it's cleared in writing by a doctor.
"My scholarship" I utter
"Don't worry about that anak, magpagaling ka muna"
"Mom, Dad, I want to graduate in that University" patuloy ko."What if mawala sa akin ang inaasahan kong scholarship?"
"Anak, tsaka mo na isipin iyan"
"How about the hospital bill?" tanong ko
"It is shouldered by the University. H'wag ka na munang mag-overthink. okay?"
I don't want to be stressed, yet I can't seem to stop myself from overthinking. I was very concerned.
For almost three years of my life, I have been working really hard at college. I always make sure to obtain high grades and work hard in cheerleading squad to keep my scholarship, but then, there was this awful event. Because of this spine damage, I may lose lahat ng pinaghirapan ko.
I wiped my tears nang biglang dumating ang squad team including coach Uy.
"Are you okay? How are you feeling?" agad na tanong ni coach. Pinilit kong ngumiti sa kanilang lahat.
"I'm now feeling better po coach"
"I'm sorry. It all happened because of my lacking as a coach"
"No coach." Sabad ni Georg, one the cheerleading base. "It's all my fault. I never did my job properly. I'm so sorry, especially to you Kianna".
Tinapik ni coach ang balikat ni Georg. I could see the guilt on his face, though wala naman talagang may gusto sa nangyari. I clearly understand that it's just an accident and no one should be blamed.
"We all understand how vital it is for you to keep your cheerleading squad scholarship, which is why we spoke with the university and even submitted a request to keep granting you a scholarship even if you are no longer able to join the squad. They are very aware of your efforts." coach Uy said
Ang mga luhang pinakawalan ko could tell how grateful I am. Really? I'm so happy and relieved. Isa sa mga gusto kong marinig ay ang pagiging secured ng scholarship ko despite of what happened. Nakakaiyak na nakaka-overwhelm. Nakahinga ako ng maluwang sa balitang narinig.
"Anytime soon ay maaapprove na ang request, so don't worry about it and focus on your recovery"
"Thank you" saad ko. Hindi ko na napigilang maiyak kasunod niyon. "Thank you talaga".
