Y/N was in his 'office' in the attic of his and Kates house.

He was working through marking some class work from the school. Kate walked up and saw him going through the work marking it, she saw for briefest of moments what it would be like if they both retired from crime fighting to live a 'normal' life.
"Hey babe, you okay?" Kate asked as she saw Y/N turn to face her with a smile.
"Hey Hon, you alright?" Y/N said as Kate smiled before sitting on his lap with her back against Y/N's chest.
"You first." Kate said with a sultry grin.
"I'm fine, I'm with the woman I love, I'm gonna be a father and I'm getting close to cracking this case so maybe I can take a break, god knows I need it." Y/N said as Kate laughed to herself. "So what about you?"
"I'm fine, so, any interesting work?" Kate said as she rested her head on Y/N's shoulder.
"Yeah, Miles done one about Spider-Man vs some gooey alien thing, Kamala done one about the Avengers vs an army of Skrulls, and Harley done one about Tony and Nat stopping a nuclear war by finding a HYDRA spy ring." Y/N said as Kate smiled.
"Kamala's good at this fan fiction stuff huh."
"Yeah, she's been doing it for some time, before she got her powers according to her dad." Y/N said as Kate picked up a picture of her and Y/N on their first 'real' date, it was a few weeks after Christmas, they were in Central park while it was snowing with Y/N wearing a jacket he got off Clint for Christmas, a pair of dark gray jeans, a pair of work shoes and his Christmas jumper with a scarf around his neck while Kate was wearing her long coat a scarf, a beanie, and a purple shirt along with some jeans and boots.
They were smiling together in the photo with Kate leaning her head on Y/N's shoulder and Y/N leaning his head on Kates head.
"That was a great day." Kate reminisced as Y/N saw the photo and laughed.
"Yeah, even if you did cheat in the snowball fight."
"How?" Kate asked as Y/N looked at her with a brow raised.
"You hired a kid to throw snowballs at as a distraction." Y/N said as Kate laughed into Y/N's shoulder.
"It's not cheating, it's just not playing the game following the preset parameters." Kate tried to justify as Y/N shook his head.
"Yeah, sure. Whatever, cheat. Y'know when the kid is born I'm gonna tell them that their mom is a cheat at snowball fights." Y/N said as Kate smiled at him before seeing his 'work' phone light up at the same time as his normal phone texts were telling him to get to the school fast. Kate got off Y/N's lap as she saw him stand up and walk to his armor case before opening it up and donning the armor. Y/N rushed out to the car after saying bye to Kate, and he zipped across the city, he was able to see police cars zoom past him and his HUD was filling up with messages.
When he arrived at the Mansion it was burning, but there were separate fires and they made the shape of a smiley face. Everyone apart from one person accounted for, Yelena.
"What happened? Where's Aunt Lena?" Y/N said as another report of an explosion came in.
"Where?!" Stacy snapped over the comms as Y/N rushed over to him and grabbed the radio.
"This is the Vigilante, repeat last."
"We got confirmed reports of an explosion at the Avengers compound. The fires are in the shape of a smiley face." The cop reported as Y/N fell to his knees, dropping the radio...
