The Message...

Y/N was in his basement with Kate, David was asleep as they were going through the case details.

Kate was looking at everything, she was seeing the whole fight, she was watching the HARM recreations of the whole patrol. Natasha arrived in the lift and saw the couple going through everything. She saw Y/N and Kate looking at the evidence and how they were bouncing ideas off each other, soon Yelena joined them as well, only Yelena was out of breath from sprinting.

"Aunt Lena, what's up?"

"That killer you're after...they sent a 12 page essay on their plan to 'clean up this city'. It's like a political manifesto. The Bugle has also given the killer a name. The Wraith." Yelena said as Y/N nodded before looking to Kate.

"Kate, suit up. Mom, Lena, can you both keep an eye on David?"

"Sure." Natasha said as Y/N and Kate headed to the lift where they suited up and headed for Y/N's car. They sped off to the police precinct where Stacy and Yuri were waiting on the roof. They both arrived causing Stacy to look relieved and Yuri to slightly tense up for the briefest of moments.

"Where's the letters?" Y/N asked as Stacy handed him the evidence in a bag.

"I want those back at the end of the week." Stacy said as Y/N nodded.

"Sir, why are we even investigating these, we never investigated the punisher killings, these are exactly the same, you've had me on this case for the past seven years and nothing's happened. Who ever they are they only kill mobsters." Yuri snapped at the captain who was in shock, she had never displayed any discomfort working this case before, why now.

"Because we have to be better than those bastards, Protect and serve. It says that on the badge Yuri, when'd you forget that?"

"When I was forced to kill my family, we let them go and they killed your family. When are we drawing the line and saying no more?"

"The day we do that is the day the law no longer applies to anyone or anything, it's the day society collapses."

"Yuri, go home and cool off." Stacy said as She stormed away.

"What else have we got?"

"Nothing, the Bugle have given them a nickname, so that's gonna cause a stir, fuckin' Jameson is gonna have a field day if this goes on any longer." Stacy said as Y/N nodded.

"well the last two bodies have both happened in a smaller time frame so the killer is either getting closer to the end of their list or they know we're onto them." Y/N said as heard Peter and Gwen land behind him.

"Spidey, Ghost." Y/N said as they both looked at him in shock.

"We thought you two had retired." Parker said as Y/N glanced to Kate.

"Wanda's death brought us back." Y/N said as Peter and Gwen solemnly nodded. "Captains, we'll look at this, hopefully it should turn a lead up."

"Copy that, remember...end of the week." Stacy said as Y/N done a two finger salute before him and Kate headed back home to begin the tests on the letters.

That night they went through every available test they had. They found two sets of fingerprints, both of which hit them.

Yuri's finger prints, and her partners, the later of which were in blood. Y/N rewound the whole case through his head.

"Yuri...Yuri is the Wraith." Y/N said as Kate began to turn only for a long elastic to wrap around her neck and begin to strangle her, Y/N turned to see Yuri with David as a hostage and blood on the both of them.

"Yuri, put the gun down." Y/N said trying to calm Yuri down as she looked at him blankly.

"Give me the letters Y/N, or I swear to god I'm gonna kill them both." Yuri said as Y/N looked to Kate who shook her head.

"What did you do to Mom and Lena?"

"Lena is likely alive, Your mom...is in a state that means you can't chase me. Now give me... the fucking letters." Yuri said as she yanked on the elastic and it constricted tighter around Kate's throat.

"...Fine. Here." Y/N said, calmly putting a microscopic tracker on the letters as he picked them up. He handed them to Yuri who looked at him.

"Don't try and stop me, or next time I'll kill them all." Yuri said as she left. Y/N was confused as he rushed upstairs and saw Yelena and Natasha on the floor, Yelena was alive barely but Natasha was in a critical condition, she looked like she was dead already but Y/N could still see her breathing slightly.

Y/N and Kate got the two former assassins to the hospital where they were being treated, Y/N was looking at the sight of them both lying on hospital beds in a coma. Kate saw that he had made his mind up. He looked back at Kate who gave the 'permission granted' nod.

"David, Mommy and Daddy have some important business to attend to, so you're gonna be staying with Uncle Logan and the X-Men for a few days or so okay?" Y/N asked as David nodded.

Kate and Y/N took David to Xavier's School and explained everything to Professor X who agreed to look after the boy.

That night Y/N and Kate were on the roof tops of the city looking for their target, Wraith, formerly known as Yuri. But there was still some rationality hidden deep behind the insanity that now ruled her, because she had planned for them hunting her, and if they found her and tried to stop her, she would make sure they regretted it.

[A/N] Sorry for not updating this for a while, I was working on getting a few more fics started and off the ground. I know it's not a good excuse but it's the truth. Hopefully I'll be able to work on this fic more often now that all the new works are on their feet and are up and going, and all the other cliche lines that fit this context. Any way, sorry for the lack of updates and thank you for reading this fic so far.
