I smile watching Iselen lying on the couch reading a book with my dogs lying on top of her body and between her legs. The vampire extends her arm and grabs her glass of wine from the side table keeping her eyes fixed on the page and keeping her torso still so she doesn't disturb Chance that's lying on her belly. I've done the same thing thousands of times but never thought this shameless and dangerous bloodsucker could be so caring with my pets. Yes, I'm sure Iselen can be dangerous if she wants to, not only because of the stories Terra has told me, but because I can feel the restrained energy, about to explode. The vampire needs some action as soon as possible, go out to kick demons' asses, or she'll go mad with boredom, although she'll never say it out loud and will swear that she's okay.
"What?" she asks puzzled looking up when I get closer and brush her bangs away from her forehead, running my fingers through her silky hair.
"Nothing," I answer looking right into her confused dark eyes. "You're really pretty," I whisper grazing her cheek with my knuckles and she smiles but still looks perplexed.
"What do you want?" she asks with suspicion.
"Nothing," I repeat pulling away slightly, feeling offended, but the vampire moves her hand fast and holds my wrist, stopping me and staring at me with a silent question in her eyes. "I can praise you but that doesn't mean I want something from you."
"Okay, that's nice but you know that, if you want something from me, I'll give it to you. Whatever it is... you don't need to do anything in exchange." Iselen looks right at my face, hypnotizing me even if she's not using her vampire charm, while I lick my lips staring at her mouth. I can still feel her sweetness... I made another mochaccino with cream and caramel this evening and she kissed me to thank me for her treat, hugging my waist and forcing me to sit on the kitchen island, handling me like I was a ragdoll. Vampires are hard to resist: her face, perfume and eyes, everything about her is fascinating and attractive and I'm an easy prey when she slides her tongue down my neck and lets me feel her sharp fangs even if she hasn't bitten me yet.
"I want you," I whisper blushing and she smirks mischievously, winking at me. My heart skips a beat while she pulls my arm to move me closer to her.
"Again? Are all Aussie ladies so wild and greedy? You're lucky I have supernatural strength to please you..."
"Iselen!" Terra runs into the living room out of breath and we both flinch, startled, Ru barks nervously and jumps to the floor, allowing the vampire to sit down on the couch after putting Chance on a pillow. "We need your help."
"What's wrong?" she asks worried.
"Lilith has called because she has information but don't want to tell us by phone because she's afraid that some member of the family can hear her and tell her father, she's going to meet Raven in a park they both know but that means she has to get out of the Wind Rose. Maeve and the witches want to go with her but I think someone else should go with them, on the other hand, I don't want Ruby to stay here alone even if those half demons and wizards have left, apparently. Someone could be watching the security perimeter."
"Okay, calm down, I understand it. I'll go with them, guiding them through one of the secret tunnels that lead to the forest, and you'll stay here with Ruby, fairies and necromancers protecting this fortress," the vampire gets up, smiling excitedly.
"Are you sure you don't mind?" the werewolf asks worried but Iselen is already walking out the door.
"Of course not," she yells from the corridor. "Girls, let's go on an excursion! We'll have fun... and if we're lucky enough, we'll kick some demons' asses..."
"I've never seen her so happy before," I whisper sitting on the couch with my dogs while Terra shakes her head amused and exasperated again. "Will they be okay out there?"
