It's been days since Tori felt she didn't belong at Malory Towers. She went back to her routine without anyone knowing how she felt or anything. She didn't want anyone else to know how she was feeling. She felt that no one would understand.

When she was in the San for her usual stretches, Dr. Rivers told her that he wanted her to try to walk more now that she's gotten stronger. He told her that he still wanted her to use the wheelchair to prevent exhaustion, but walk a bit more like go outside during break time. He also checked Tori's clubfoot. He told her that the brace was helping her foot stay as straight as possible and that keeping it on helped the position when it would be time for the operation when the term ended. He was also pleased to see how the left leg brace and arm brace were helping her polio affected side stay strong too.

Afterwards, Pamela came to pick her up to work on assignments. She was taken to the common room. This time Pamela helped her prepare for a spelling test. Tori was pretty good at spelling, but she needed clarification about meanings of some words.

Meanwhile, the others were in domestic science working on needle point. Darrel had an idea of decorating Tori's cane and wheelchair if allowed. She thought it would bring a smile to Tori's face. Darrel told Ms. Pots her idea. Ms. Pots told Darrel to ask Matron if it was okay to do first. Sally thought Darrel's idea was good. She was glad to see Darrel trying to help Tori know that she belonged at Mallory Towers and that Tori had friends that cared about her.

After domestic science, It was lunchtime. Darrel knew Tori was with Pamela, so she and Sally went to the common room to take Tori for lunch. Darrel knew that they had to drop the wheelchair off at the San. Darrel was contemplating when to ask Matron about Tori's wheelchair and cane. She had to do it without Tori knowing because it was a surprise.

Once at the San, Matron told Tori that the doctor wanted her to use the time to walk and stretch out her legs before she had to return to her wheelchair for class. She then reminded Tori that it was okay to asked Darrel or Sally to hold her hand for stability while walking. Matron told Tori that it was a request from the doctor. Matron told Tori that she or the doctor didn't wanted her to fall. Matron told her that she didn't want to call Tori's father because Tori hit her head if she fell. Tori didn't want that. She told Matron that she would be careful and ask Darrel and Sally to help her. The girls walked out of the San and headed to lunch.

After lunch, Tori told Sally and Darrel what the doctor wanted her to do. She told them that the doctor told her to go outside and walk in the grass. They carefully walked outside and down the stairs. They made sure Tori was careful on the stairs and one of them held her hand.

Once outside, Darrel held Tori's hand. Sally held Darrel's other hand. They carefully found a spot to sit in the grass. They sat down in the grass. Tori told them that the doctor told her to walk in the grass in just her braces. Darrel helped Tori remove her shoes.

When Tori's shoes were removed, Darrel helped Tori stand. Tori was a bit unsteady on her feet just in her braces. Sally and Darrel held onto Tori. They held hands as they helped Tori walk in the grass. They were slow to prevent Tori from falling. Sally carried Tori's shoes. Alicia noticed them and called to them to come over.

When they saw Alicia, they slowly went over to her. Alicia noticed Tori just in her braces. She asked why. Tori told her that it was the doctor's recommendation. Alicia told Tori that it was great to see her on her feet again. Tori told her that it would still be minimal. She also told her that the doctor wanted her to try to stretch out herself by walking instead of just the daily stretching with the doctor. She thought it would make sense. It was nearly time to return to class. Darrel helped Tori sit down and put her shoes on.

When Tori's shoes were on, Darrel and Sally helped her up. They went back into the school to get their books for class. They went to their dorm to gather their books. Darrel and Sally then took Tori to the San to get her wheelchair.
