Tori's Surprise Visitors

The next morning. Tori was expecting to be taken to the examination room for her bandages to be removed, wounds cleaned and her diaper changed. She was with her mum in her room. She wanted to see Will, but knew she had to wait. She also wondered if she would be bathed that morning too.

The nurse then arrived with the stretcher. She wore her surgical mask. She told her that Dr. Moore and Dr. Rivers were waiting. She told Tori she was allowed one comfort item. She already had her doctor bear in her arms. The nurse lifted her from her bed to the stretcher. She then left with Tori.

While Tori was getting her post op examination done, Mrs. Moore went to the Veterans' ward. She thought to see her son while she waited for Tori. She took Tori's doll with her as well. She knew Will would want it for comfort. She saw how he cared for Tori's doll and knew it would help while they waited to see her.

When the nurse wheeled Tori in the examination room there were 2 other nurses at the table. She saw Dr. Rivers and her dad at the sink washing their hands. They were wearing their surgical garments. The nurse then lifted Tori from the stretcher on to the examination table.

Once Tori was on the examination table, she felt her anxiety spiking. She held her doctor bear tight. One of the nurses told her that they had to undress her and remove her diaper. She understood. Two of the nurses removed her hospital gown. They told her she had to put her bear beside her. They put him where she could see him. They removed the hospital gown she then lay there just in her diaper. The third nurse removed Tori's diaper. She then left to dispose of it.

Tori was naked on the examination table. She wanted her bear. The nurses, Dr. Rivers and her dad weren't looking at her so she gently grabbed her bear's leg and she held him tight. She saw one of the nurses coming with a cart. She was scared what was on it and what her dad and Dr. Rivers were going to do to her.

Just then, her dad walked over to her head. He put his gloved hands around her head then stared at her. He startled her a bit, but she surprisingly didn't cry. He told her that it was just him. He told her that they needed to remove her bandages again and thoroughly clean her. She understood it was to prevent more infection. She knew she had a diaper rash. She told him she understood. He told her that after she was cleaned then he and Dr. Rivers would examine her. He told her then afterwards clean bandages would be put on. She understood. He asked her if she was ready. She told him that she was. He then called the nurses and Dr. Rivers over to the examination table.

When they were all there, they began to prep Tori. Dr. Moore was at her head still. He told her that she could have her bear while the bandages were being removed. He then asked one of the nurses for surgical scissors. The nurse passed him the scissors. He then cut Tori's head bandage off. Another nurse was at Tori's abdomen removing her abdominal bandage.

Once the bandages were removed, it was time for Tori to have a thorough cleaning. Dr. Moore told her that he would clean her head wound. Dr. Rivers told her he would clean her groin. The nurses told her that they were cleaning the rest of her. She understood. Dr. Moore took her bear away, so the cleaning could start and her bear wouldn't get wet.

While Tori was getting cleaned, Mrs. Moore was on the Veterans' ward with Will. Will was sitting up in bed. It was still early in the morning. He was waiting for the nurse to give breakfast. He was glad to see Tori's doll, but worried about her because she was so sick. Mrs. Moore told him that Tori was just getting her post op exam done. He understood, but still didn't like it.

Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. The nurse opening the door with a cart with trays of food. She also had an older veteran with her. An older man with dark brown hair and blue eyes was with her. Will was surprised to see his uncle. The nurse told them that James wanted to see how Will was doing. She also told them that Dr. Moore asked them to allow James to visit Will. James then told them that his brother told him that Tori was in hospital as well. He wanted to surprised her. The nurse told them that Dr. Moore told them that he would call when Tori was back in her room on the neurosurgery ward. They enjoyed breakfast together while they wait for the call from Dr. Moore.
