Tori's Discharge

Within 2 days after the intercranial pressure monitor was placed, Tori's pressure went back to a safe range. Tori was happy because that meant she could be discharged. She really wanted to get out of the hospital. She knew that there was a lot to do before she could leave.

Dr. Moore and Dr. Rivers walked in the room. They acknowledged Mrs. Moore. They told Tori that they wanted to speak to her about what needed to be done before they could discharge her. She understood. They told her there were a lot that needed to be done. They told her that the first thing was for the intercranial pressure monitor probe to be removed. They told her that they would give her a bit of sedation for the procedure to make her more comfortable. They told her the procedure was quite painful. She understood. She saw the medication on the night stand.

The next thing they told Tori was that she could have a bath. She was so happy about that. Dr. Rivers told her that it was also to soak her cast off. She understood. He told her that Miss Greyling gave him a clean school uniform for her to wear. She was glad.

The third thing they wanted to mention was that they were wanting to do a head to toe exam. She understood the reason. Dr. Rivers mentioned that during the examination that he would put the new more sturdy cast. She understood. He explained that the cast would be sturdy enough for her to stand and walk on it. He told her that her friends would be allowed to decorate it as well. He told Tori that they would see how she was standing and walking as well. She understood.

Dr. Moore then told her that it was time to remove the probe from her head. She understood. Dr. Rivers told her that he would give her the medication. He then asked Mrs. Moore to assist him. He saw Tori had her comforts. He was glad. He asked Mrs. Moore to hold Tori's hand. Nurse Annie was there to assist with the procedure. Dr. Rivers swiftly gave Tori the medication. Now they waited for it to affect her.

It didn't take long for the medication to take affect. Dr. Moore could take out the intercranial pressure probe. He first detached it from the machine. He then carefully removed it from Tori's head. He was making sure it didn't break in her head.

Once it was removed, Nurse Annie took it out of the room on a cart. Dr. Moore then sewed the small wound with a few stitches. The procedure was complete. They just had to wait for Tori to awaken.

When Tori awoke moments late, she was glad that she wouldn't have any more procedures for a while. Dr. Rivers then started removing her braces. He then removed her diaper. She asked him why he was removing them. He told her that he was prepping her for Nurse Annie to bathe her. Tori was so glad to hear that. She felt so dirty. She hadn't had a proper bath in days while the pressure monitor was in.

Nurse Annie then arrived to take tori for her bath. She saw that Tori was all ready. She thanked Dr. Rivers. She walked over to Tori. Nurse Annie wore a special garment and mask still. Tori didn't like it. Nurse Annie explained that all the patients see her like that. She then gently lifted Tori from the bed and carried her out of the room.

Once nurse Annie entered the bathroom, she placed Tori on the toilet. She then ran the water for the bath. Tori observed that there was a clean hospital gown hanging. She knew she had to wear it for her final post op examination in the hospital.

When the bath was filled, nurse Annie undressed Tori. She then lifted her from the toilet and gently into the warm bath. The bath felt so good. It felt nice on her left side. It was so tight and sore. She saw the cast loosen. Nurse Annie gently washed Tori. Nurse Annie used a cloth to wash Tori's head as she had fresh stitches from the probe removal.

Once Tori was clean, Nurse Annie removed the wet plaster from the cast and put it in the trash. She then washed Tori's right foot and leg, so it was clean for the new cast. The bath was complete. Nurse Annie grabbed the clean towel. She wrapped Tori in it and placed her on the toilet. She drained the bath. She then dried Tori.
