Tori's Operation

It was the morning of Tori's operation. Mrs. Moore stayed with Tori in her room overnight. Dr. Moore and Dr. Rivers came to speak with her about the procedure. They told her that it would be about 3 hours, but may be longer. She understood. Dr. Rivers told her that he would be assisting Dr. Moore with the procedure. She was glad to know. She told him that she knew he assisted her husband with Tori's first shunt operation.

Both Dr. Moore and Dr. Rivers told Mrs. Moore that she could stay with Will while they did the operation. She thought it would be best for the both of them. Dr. Rivers then told her he would get Will, so he could see Tori before the operation. He left to go fetch Will from the Veteran's ward.

Dr. Moore then told his wife that he would do his best to help their daughter thrive. He then excused himself he gave his wife a hug and kiss. He then told her he had to get ready for the operation. He then told her the nurse would come prep Tori for the operation. She understood. He then left her alone with Tori.

Mrs. Moore wasn't alone with her daughter for long. Dr. Rivers returned with Will. She was glad to see Will. Will had the doll Tori gave him in his arms. He walked in the room. He then sat on the chair next to the bed. Dr. Rivers told them he had to get ready for Tori''s operation. He reminded them that a nurse would be coming to prep Tori for her operation. He then left them alone with Tori.

When Will was alone with his mum and sister, he stood from his chair and lay in the bed with Tori. He saw her bears and doll in her arms. He put his doll beside her pillow. He then wrapped his arms around her. He then spoke quietly to her. He told her that their dad and Dr. Rivers would make her better today. He also told her he would look after her bears and doll while she was getting operated on. He didn't know if she heard him, but he just wanted her to know that they would be safe. He also told her that he would give them to her when she was done.

Moments later, the door opened. A nurse wearing a surgical mask came in the room. She told Will and Mrs. Moore she was the surgical nurse to prep Tori for her operation. The nurse asked Will to move back to the chair which he did.

The nurse walked over to the bed. She told Will and Mrs. Moore that she was checking Tori's vitals. Tori's heart and blood pressure were checked. The nurse asked Will to take Tori's bears and doll. He did as he was told. He took Tori's bears and doll from her. He also grabbed his doll from Tori's bed.

The nurse told them she had a bed ready in the hall to take Tori for her operation. She told Will And Mrs. Moore to say their goodbyes. The nurse stepped aside. Will then went to Tori first he kissed her forehead. He told her he will give her bears and doll back after. He also told her how strong she was. Mrs. Moore now had a moment she also told Tori how strong she was. She told her that dad would make her better. She too kissed Tori on her forehead. It was almost time for Tori to go.

It was time for Tori's operation. The nurse lifted Tori from the bed. Mrs. Moore opened the door for the nurse. They saw the bed in the hall. The nurse put Tori onto the bed. She wheeled Tori to the operating room.

Once the nurse took Tori, Mrs. Moore and Will were alone. Will told his mum that he felt more comfortable in his room. She thought it was a good idea. She knew Will's comfort level was paramount. They decided to go to Will's room to wait for Tori's operation to be over.

In the operating room, the nurse wheeled Tori in. She lifted her from the bed to the operating table. There were 4 other nurses around the operating table wearing surgical garments and masks.

Once Tori was on the operating table, the nurses began to prepare her for her life saving operation. They removed her hospital gown and diaper first. One of the nurse reminded them that Dr. Rivers told them that it was okay for them to remove Tori's braces. They removed her leg braces and arm brace.
