The Hospital Visit

The day had arrived. Tori was heading to the hospital to have tests done to check her shunt and her brain as well. She was very anxious about it. She was worried it would trigger a flashback. She wondered if she was allowed to bring her bears and doll with her. She had so many other thoughts going on in her head. They were all jumbled up.

Just then, Dr. Moore noticed Tori cuddling her bears and doll. He saw that she was anxious. He walked over to her bed without his surgical garment on. He then sat on the stool beside the bed.

When he sat down on the stool, he asked Tori to look at him. She lifted her head from behind her bears. She was glad to see her dad wasn't wearing his surgical garment. He told her that he understood she was anxious returning to the hospital after being out since the war. He told her that she needed the tests done to deem her healthy enough to leave the San, return to class and ultimately her friends. She understood. She told him that she missed being with her friends.

Suddenly Dr. Rivers came to her bedside. He too was just wearing his suit. He told Tori that he wanted to wash her. Dr. Moore told her that he wanted her clean for her hospital visit. She understood. She then saw Matron with a school uniform in her arms. She told Tori that she would wear a school uniform to her hospital visit. She understood. Matron then asked her if she wanted her doll to wear the school uniform too. Tori told Matron that she would love that. Dr. Rivers told Tori that he would be wearing his surgical gown while washing her. She understood. Dr. Rivers also told her that he wanted to do an exam on her as well. She understood. He went to get ready to wash Tori.

Matron placed the school uniform on the bed. Dr. Moore then told Tori he would carry her to the bed behind the privacy partition. He removed the blanket. He told her to leave her bears and doll. She did as she was told. He then lifted her from the bed and carried her behind the privacy partition over to the bed. He then lay her on the bed. He told her he was getting ready for the hospital visit and left her with Dr. Rivers.

It was time for Dr. Rivers to wash Tori. She saw the cart with a bowl of hot water and soap. She saw diapers, wipes and ointment as well as clean towels. He told her that he was removing her diaper, braces and socks. She understood. He wore gloves as well. He began to undress her.

Once undressed, Tori lay on the bed completely naked. Dr. Rivers told her that he would start washing her from her head to her feet. He told her that he would clean her sensitive areas last. She understood. Dr. Rivers wet her hair and body. He then started washing her hair. She was uncomfortable, yet trusted him. She stayed silent. She let him wash her and examine her. He was one of the only doctors she trusted.

After Dr. Rivers washed and examined Tori, he dried her with clean towels. He then put on the ointment then the clean diaper. He then called Dr. Moore to take Tori back to her bed for Matron to dressed her. Dr. Moore came and took Tori back to her bed.

Once back to her bed, Tori saw her doll was wearing the yellow school dress like she wanted. She thanked Matron. Dr. Moore then lay her on the bed. Matron told her that she would dress her. She told Tori that she would be gentle with her feet when putting her socks on. Matron started dressing Tori with her under shirt first. Then the dress then her socks.

Once Tori was dressed, all she needed to have were her leg braces and arm brace put on. Matron told Tori that Dr. Rivers had them. She told her that he would put them on her feet. She understood. She lay on the bed cuddling her doll as she waited for Dr. Rivers with her braces. She wondered why her bears were not on the beds. All she could think of was that her dad had them, but why.

Once Dr. Rivers emerged from the privacy partition, he was just in his suit again. Tori was relieved. She saw that he had her legs braces and arm brace in his arms. She wasn't looking forward to him putting them on. She knew the right brace was extremely important though een though she knew it would be extremely painful to put on.
