Malory Towers Break Barriers

The Incident

It was the day after the girls saw their families on Open Day. Afternoon classes were wrapping up. The girls were in the assembly hall learning the Waltz with Mam'zelle Rogers. Darrel was leading Tori. Sally was leading Marylou. Mam'zelle Rogers was leading Alicia. Tori was quite unsteady. Darrel reassured her that she got her and wouldn't let her fall. Darrel reminded her that Dr. Rivers allowed this.

After the dance lesson, Darrel helped Tori to her wheelchair. She took Tori to remedial. Darrel stopped by at the dorm to get their books. She parked Tori at the stairs and went up to the dorm.

After Darrel returned with their books, they headed to remedial. Tori wasn't sure what she needed to work on though.

At remedial, Darrel parked Tori's wheelchair at the table. She then placed their books and pencil boxes on the table. Tori opened hers. Darrel opened hers. Tori had some Math work to finish. Darrel had to rewrite an essay. Pamela wrote the math problems in Tori's book. She then helped Darrel with her spelling. The girls then began to work quietly.

After remedial, Darrel took Tori to the San. They were dropping Tori's wheelchair off for the day. Tori was so glad that she was able to get on her feet again.

Once they were at the San, Darrel knocked on the door. Matron saw them and opened the door. She let Tori in. She helped her out of her wheelchair. Matron asked how she was. She told Matron that she had a bit of a headache. Matron offered her to lay down in the San Tori said No, she would lay down in the dorm. Matron then walked Tori to the door. She told Darrel if Tori's headache got worse to come get her or to get one of the others to. Darrel told Matron that she understood. Darrel helped Tori walk to the dorm.

Once in the dorm, Tori walked slowly to her bed to lay down. She managed to get to her bed. She sat down on the bed. She asked Darrel to help her with her shoes. Darrel walked over and sat on her own bed. Tori was facing her. Darrel asked Tori to put her feet on Darrel's knees.

Once Tori's feet were on Darrel's knees, Darrel began removing Tori's shoes. Darrel started with the right one. Then removed the left one. Darrel reminded Tori that her leg braces had to stay on. Tori told her that she understood. Tori then asked if her arm brace could be removed. Darrel told her that Dr. Rivers would allow that. Darrel asked Tori to lay on her bed then she would remove the arm brace. Tori swung her legs around to her bed and lay back on the pillow.

Next Darrel gently removed Tori's left arm brace. She removed each strap carefully not to hurt Tori.

Once the left arm brace was removed, Darrel told Tori that she would put her left arm brace on Tori's trunk. Darrel walked over to Tori's trunk with Tori's left arm brace in her hand and placed it on her trunk. Darrel then returned to her bed. She told Tori to try to rest. Tori the grabbed her doctor bear and aviator bear and cuddled them both then closed her eyes.

A while later, she sat up needing to use the bathroom. She carefully swung her legs over to the side of the bed facing Sally's bed. She slowly lifted herself to a standing position.

Once standing and her feet were on the floor, she walked slowly to the bathroom. She had to be careful as she was walking just in her leg braces to the bathroom.

When she was returning from the bathroom, she was trying to be very careful not to trip over her braces. It was difficult to walk in them without shoes on. She was nearly at her bed.

Suddenly, her right foot hooked on her left ankle. She began to fall forward to the floor. Her head then hit her trunk on the way to the floor rendering her unconscious.

When Darrel saw this, she ran to Tori. She then turn Tori on her back. She looked at Tori's head. Darrel checked if Tori was breathing. She was relieved that Tori was breathing. She asked Sally to get Matron right away. Sally ran out of the dorm to the San.
