Chapter 26- Reason

Cinder ran out of the tent, Kelly was not there! And then she noticed a trail of black leading somewhere, was its Kelly? Teloki came up from the fire and noticed her expression "Cinder, what is wrong?" "Kelly!" was all that she could get out through gasps of pain as darkness came into her mind what, what was happening to her? they had to find her before.... What if he had had already found her? Kalia was gone too! Ash came over when he heard Kelly's name and looked around and then at the ground "Fallen!" he said menacing. "that is the only thing that could have gotten her out from under us without any of us waking, they had to be halfway to the place where Rakol was by now, he is calling us out, he wants us to find him now." Cinder looked to where Tayrah and Nathan had collapsed and then went to Teloki and clung to him, she couldn't let him be taken from her, that was the last thing that she needed at the moment. He looked at her and smiled not knowing what was scaring her. Cinder looked at the tree line, where would she have gone? Should they follow her and Rakol? They had no idea where his fortress was, and they didn't know what he was going to do with Kelly while they waited or what he had waiting. Why were they even there in the first place? Cinder looked up as the sky got darker... was this all that she was good for...to get killed before she could fulfill the prophecy of the five Stars? Was this the end of all that they had come to accomplish? Would the Lightless get to them before they got to safety? Cinder looked at the sky and wondered what her future would hold? They had to find out what was happening to their land, what were the Fallen doing to her best friend? 

Someone was going to pay, and she knew exactly who.... Rakol! He wouldn't be able to get out of this as easily he had before and that was exactly what she wanted to happen. Cinder looked at her friends and then at Teloki, he had been through it all before, this was not his first life. What was going to happen to her and her family and friends? Teloki was the only one that she trusted when she went over the edge. What would happen to the world that she loved and swore to protect when she took on the mantle of the fire star, it was an honor and also a curse upon her head and she had warned them away from her, but they stayed. She was the only one who would be able to fully communicate with the Fallen once the battle ensued. She knew it was going to happen. It was the only thing that they wanted to happen. They all had to survive but would that mean death for her best friend? Teloki looked at the other stars and then at Cinder. What was going to happen? 

She looked at the sky, what if she couldn't control it, what if the shadows got more intense? What if they died because of her, she wouldn't let that happen? This was what she had been afraid of this entire time, that they would put themselves in danger for her while she watched from the sidelines.... Not able to help at all. That was not going to happen, she knew how to tap into the Shadows to make them uncomfortable around her, she had not told anyone yet, but she had been infused with Shadow-Venom when she was a child, not even her Parents knew what had gone on in the forest all of those years ago. And that was something that she held dear to her heart, because as soon as she thought of telling the others she thought against it, she was part of the thing that they hated and wanted to destroy, what would they do to her if they found out, would they abandon the quest and leave her to do it on her own, they were finally there after all this time and Rakol was within their grasp but if he would listen then they would be able to go and tell their Ultimate that they had succeeded in what she had wanted them to do.
