Cinder looked out over the water as the passed over the bridge and knew that they were three miles away from the Shadow Realm and that was just where they wanted to be, Kalia looked at the five companions and smiled, they were in for a surprise when the got to the border, only she knew about it and she looked at herself, she was sad that she was betraying them but she was loyal to the Shadow-hunters and her kind before strangers and some as powerful as these, she could slip away and warn the king that they were almost there and then come back before morning, that would be OK and then they wouldn't know what happened and they would have a surprise waiting for them when they woke up. Yes that is what she was going to do, she just had to pretend that she was part of them and then at night leave, she was part of the shadows and so it wouldn't be hard for her to leave undetected and unnoticed by them, she smiled yes that is the best thing to do. She looked at Cinder and frowned, she had become friends with Ash and Nathan and now she was going to tell her leader about them, Teloki would be happy about that. And he could bring his army down before they could get there and then this whole thing that they had done would be for nothing and they could watch their entire land get swept away and Kalia would be happy for that, because that would mean that they would be out of luck and their whole land would be gone and they wouldn't see it again. Cinder looked at the others and knew what they were thinking, they all wanted this to be over so that they could get back to their lives and forget being special, being a Star was not so exciting as they thought, the whole land depended on them for this one thing and if they failed them then they would be gone and be over, everyone's lives where in their hands, and they didn't want that. And so they kept going not knowing what was at the end of the line, for them and they all thought that was kind of strange but they kept going, they had promised their parent's that they would continue and they wouldn't stop now, this was where they were suppose to be and they would see it to the end and that was that, nothing would change their minds for any reason at all. Cinder and the others started to feel as though this was too much but they kept going knowing what the rest of their world would be if they failed and they didn't want that to happen ever, they were a free people they could do whatever they wanted but make up their own minds about this, this was something that they had to do and they couldn't back down from a challenge, they had not so far and they were not about to start now. Kelly looked at Kalia and noticed that she was dimmer than usual so she went to her and looked at her "are you OK?" she asked Kalia looked at her "can you keep a secret?" she whispered Kelly looked at her and smiled "yes, I can, what do you want to tell me?" "they are closer then I let on don't tell Cinder or Ash they will only worry and flee, but you can stop them." Kelly looked at her and nodded "what do you want me to do?" Kalia looked at her and smiled "Shadows can't go across the water, can they?" she asked Kelly nodded not sure where she was going with this. "yeah, but what do you want me to do about it?" "you are the water that we need." Kalia said Kelly looked at her and shook her head "so you are saying that you want me to make a water ball big enough for all of us to go in that is crazy, what about you, you are a shadow-hunter, what will the water do to you?" Kalia shook her head "i am OK, they know me and I will be right with you all of the way, even though you cant see me." Kelly nodded and Kalia smiled at least she had someone that she could tell things to without having it hurt them. They were her friends and she couldn't do that to them, but first and foremost she was a Shadow-hunter, that was her calling and to denounce it was death be all that find her. She owed them that much. What would she do, Cinder trust her and that would only make things worse between them all. Kalia looked out into the shadows, this was where she was comfortable, this was her home, but they were her friends as well. What would she do? Nate looked at her and felt some uncertainty in her and frowned, would she turn against them when the time came where they in danger of her? Cinder looked out over the land that they still had to go through and frowned, she knew what everyone was thinking, would they still be there when they got to the Shadow Realm? What if they had already left and where heading there way, or had passed them by another way that they didn't know about? What then they would be too late and this would all be for nothing. Kalia looked ahead and didn't look at Cinder of any of the others, this was her land and this was where she belonged. But after being away so long would she still remember the way to the camp? And what about the others, what would they do about Cinder and the others? They weren't shadow-hunters like her so how would they get in? She looked at Cinder and noticed that her mind was working and then she looked at the others and motioned them over to a cluster of trees and they stood there just out of sight of the shadow-hunters camp. What was their plan? Cinder looked at Kalia and shook her head they were putting their lives in the hands of a former shadow-hunter, was that the right thing to do? Kalia looked at them and smiled, this was going to be fun. They didn't know what she was going to do when they got there and she liked it that way. Once they were there they would be captured and then this whole thing would be over and no one would know what happened to them here because no one had the courage to come all of the way out here, they were all scared of it out here because it reminded them of death. Cinder and Ash looked at her and shook their heads, they needed to lose her but how so that they could get away but how? That was a problem she watched them so close they wouldn't be able to get away fast enough for her not to notice them. They needed a distraction so that they could get away before she had time to get them back. But what? What would work for her? That was the question that they were all asking, but they didn't have time to do anything because they were being trapped into a net and the shadow-hunter was looking at them through her cloak-hood and smiled harshly at them, Cinder and the others gasped, it was Kalia! What was she doing there? And then she remembered, she was a shadow-hunter at heart and nothing was going to change that. She had betrayed them for her own kind. Why? She thought and then looked at the others who looked equally sad at what she had done and they continued in silence until they came to a cave that must have been the shadowhunters base because they were being lead into it, Cinder started a fire near the entrance but they snuffed it out, that was what they thought she would do, use her power to get help, because the smoke would travel and then alert the five nations that their children were in danger and then they would come running and that was the last thing that they needed, Cinder and the others were taken into the camp it was nothing that they thought it would be like, it was strangely cold and mysteriously guarded, how would they get out of there, that was the question that they were all asking. Cinder watched the gate swing open and they were marched through the gate where an officer stood who are they? he asked Kalia nodded her head they were close to the border. she said aloud and then to him only they are the children of the five stars. he looked at Cinder and Ash and nodded at Kalia to go forward and let them pass farther into the camp, what was here for them? They were going to meet the master, the shadowhunters leader Teloki that was his name she remembered that from what her parents told her about them and what they did. It was not pleasant to think that he was her uncle, her mother was his sister. They came to stop next to a throne where sat Teloki, he looked at her and smiled, this was just what he wanted, all five stars together, but they were not as useless that he thought they where.
