As she raced to the battlefield she looked at the others, they were in this together and they would end this together, that was what her mother had wanted and that was what she was intending to do.

Cinder looked out over the land that she had come to call her own and watched as the shadowhunters swarmed the land leaving it black and desolate, what would she do? Her friends where doing OK, keeping them from getting to where she was because they wanted her to stay alive, she was the only one that could keep the land in balance. She watched in terror as Kelly was almost killed by Kalia, who had again joined forces with Rakol, where was he she thought, was he even there, if he was she wanted to kill him for what he had done to her and the land she was protecting. She watched as shadow-hunter fought the Star Children, everyone was so engaged that they didn't even notice that she had made her way to the top of a cliff looking out for her friends when all of a sudden she was spotted by a shadow-hunter, he started coming up and Cinder panicked and stepped back as he came closer. what would she do, she couldn't burn him or her secret would be out among them and that was not what they wanted right now, they had to keep there species hidden until the right time to reveal themselves to their enemies.

But when was that? Cinder wondered, she looked for Ash and the others and found them heading towards the sound of the battle that was slowly getting louder but she was stuck and this was the problem at hand, she knew that she could burn him and no one would ever know, but then she remembered shadow-hunters see what all of their companions see so in a matter of seconds the others would know what their comrade was doing to her and if she burned then they would know that too and then her secret would be out for real.

she had to stay low key or things would get bad fast and there was nothing that she could do about it. "I don't want to hurt you." she said, hoping that would help, it didn't, the boy laughed "He said that you might say that, and no it didn't work, i am going to kill you and then this madness will end here and now!" Cinder looked at him and then behind her for only a second, this was going to end here and now but she was not the one that was going to die, all she needed was a black arrow and the moon, and it was almost time for the moon to be up, and she had been given some black arrows before they had left the base so she had all that she needed. if only she could get to them fast enough so that no one else had to die today. that was the last thing that they needed right now, for one of the stars to die before it is all over, then it wouldn't be fulfilled and then her mothers dreams and the dreams of the five founders would all be for nothing. she looked around her at the chaos that was all around her and frowned, this was not what they wanted, they wanted this to end it peace and not bloodshed. but that was not happening, and this was how it was going to be, the shadowhunters where trying to regroup and attack again but the leaders wouldn't let them for fear they would find a weak spot and break though and that was not what they wanted right then, they needed to stay strong and firm throughout it all. but how?

Cinder looked at the Shadow-hunter that was still advancing and frowned, this was not what she wanted to happen, but she had no other choice "Ash there is no other way, i have to expose myself, or i will die!!!" she looked out over the field and smiled was this really what she wanted? suddenly as she was looking the shadow-hunter took this time to get in front of her, Cinder used her sword and then he knocked it out of her hand and they both watched as it clanged far below them amid the battle. "is that all that you have?" he asked mocking her.

Cinder looked at the sky and saw that the moon was up, "that is not all that i have!" she said and the boy looked up and to Cinders' surprise he laughed "you really think that we would come out if we couldn't handle the moons light? we are no longer afraid of it. that is the least of our worries these days."

Cinder looked at the moon and frowned, this was not what she wanted to happen, what would she do, she was on the edge of the cliff and there was nowhere she could go. "what is your name?" she asked, the boy stopped and frowned "what did you say?" he asked "what is your name, you have a name don't you?" "Yes! i have a name, but why would i tell you?" Cinder smiled she had him now, "I just thought that Rakol would have told you by now, that i am not who you thought i was?" the boy laughed "Yes he did." "then what is your name?" "It's Drak, why do you want to know?" "I just thought when this is all over we could be friends!! like me and Teloki."

"Teloki is a traitor, why would i want to be like him. he ruined our family!" Cinder was started at that comment. "is he your brother?" "couldn't you tell?" Cinder frowned "No not really." "well i am his younger brother, he left when i was three and i have not seen him since, and seeing him with you angered me because all of my life i have been taught to hate your kind and despise all those of your race, but seeing him with you is different and i don't know what is right and what is wrong!... and now i know which i want!"

Cinder suddenly felt as though she was falling and indeed she was, she felt as she fell as though all of the fire inside of her was going away and she panicked, if too much went out then she could die and no one wanted that to happen. as she fell the fire wrapped around her and softened her fall, as she stood up in the cocoon of fire it got hotter and hotter and then suddenly cool, what was going on, she looked and saw that the shadow-hunters were all staring at her, she looked at them and then felt something heavy weighing her down and she fell over backwards, what was going on? Ash came over to her as well as the others, the shadow-hunters where all frozen in time as they came closer.

"Cinder, what is up with the wings?" Ash asked before anyone else could Nathan and Tayrah looked at her and frowned "Cin what is going on? why are there wings sprouting out of your back?" Cinder looked at them "Wings? what!" she turned around and sharp metal feathers shot out of them sticking everywhere, the others had to duck to not get hit "Cinder stay still... so you don't hurt anyone with those, we still have a job to do... remember?"

Cinder looked at the wings and found that they were very strong but also very light so that they didn't bother her when she walked and she smiled, what would she be able to do now that she had these? She touched one and found that it was really sharp, that is cool she thought what else can fire make me do? she looked at the others and remembered that they had a battle to resolve, and so she spread her newfound wings and took to the skys. Ash right behind her. with the others following on the ground. where they too late, had they already been killed? Cinder looked around and saw that the Shadow-hunters where retreating away from her, without thinking she took one of her "feathers" and threw it, it hit Drak squarely in the chest and he fell over in pain, Cinder went to him and gasped, the feather was embedding itself into his body making it so he couldn't move.

Teloki came over to her careful not to touch the wings " we did well, he said, Cinder smiled at him and looked at Drak, he was Teloki's brother but he was nothing like her love, he was brutal and cruel to everything, while Teloki actually didn't want to kill for gain, he only killed when he had to and he was kind and thought of others before himself, Drak was one of those, he had threatened the safety of Cinder and the other stars, and the land that they all called home, so he had to kill, Cinder had wounded Drak but would it last, shadow-hunters could heal almost as quickly as the Star children. What would he do when he was all healed? Come after them in revenge? They didn't want that. So where would they go? Teloki smiled and looked at Cinder "We will all go to the tower of Glass, it is there we will not be bothered by the shadow-hunters." Cinder nodded "show us the way!"
