Cinder woke to the sound of horses and she sat bolt upright in her bed and looked out of her window, there was fire! She didn't cause it but someone or something did and she had to get out of there. Cinder jumped out of bed just as her maid came in to check on her "miss, we have to get out of here, someone is trying to burn the castle to Kill you!" Cinder looked at her maid and shook her head "who is trying and why!?" the maid ignored her and continued packing her things "we have to get you out of here right now, they will not wait for you!" "who will not wait for me, what do you mean and where am I going?"
"to a safe house where no one will find you and try to kill you like your..." Cinder looked at her Like they did who? she was getting frantic now. why and who were these people and why did they want to get her and her family so much? Cinder looked out into the hall and found Hunter stared at her "what is going on Cinder?" he asked his voice trembling Cinder shook her head "l don't know! where is father?"
"don't know, the soldier told me to stay put but I had to come and find you and see if you were OK! I just had to!" Cinder looked at her brother and shook her head and embraced him, what was going on? That's what she wanted to know too but no one would tell her about it. Cinder looked out into the hall and saw that her brother was going toward their fathers room trying to get away from the fire and all of the smoke. Cinder followed him and together they went into the room. their father was not there and the room was silent. Where had everyone gone? had they all left already? Cinder suddenly knew what she had to do. her mother had said that the language of Fire could be used for good or bad. she could pull the fire inside of her! it might work and it might kill her in the process but she had to try and save her family. The fire was right there in front of her and she could use it to her advantage. she had to be careful so as not to set anyone or thing on fire in what she was about to do. Cinder closed her eyes and felt the heat coming toward her in waves, this was her chance to prove her father wrong about fire and that they could control it again like in the old days. Cinder pulled the fire inside of her and then pushed it into some wet grass and it smoldered and went out, the fire was gone and they were all safe no one had died. King Ky looked at his daughter, she knew the secrets of the fire, just like her mother. He went to her and hugged her "we would all have died if you had not thought quick enough... but that was reckless for you to do that and not tell someone." Cinder looked at her father "let the people learn again the language of the fire we need it and it needs us ." her father looked at her "No, we can't do that, all of the languages are different and we don't have someone that will teach everyone..." Cinder looked at her brother who had come to stand next to her "you know the language of the fire. Papa let her teach us, what if the other nations know their language and we are the only ones that don't!?" King Ky looked at his children this was their world and they would be safe. Where would they go? Their home was no longer safe. Cinder looked at her father and then at the world around her, what would happen if someone or something attacked them? Would she have to use her powers? Would she have to kill? Cinder looked at her home and sighed this was not easy to do, to have this great weight upon her shoulders, her mother should have chosen someone else she couldn't carry this great burden all by herself. What about her land, what about Keld, and all of the other nations, none of them knew about the danger that was about to come their way, they all where in their own separate world not knowing about what was lying in wait for them outside their territories. Cinder looked out over the land that she loved, someone had to unite them or all nations would fall from the things that would come when they least expected it, they had to prepare for what was to come. Cinder went to her room and looked out over the grounds, this was her home and no one would take it from her. She would fight for it till the end. Later that day she was practicing her fire magic in her room when her father came in. she was making a fireball and was throwing it into a bowl of water, surprisingly it didn't disappear like most fire did but stayed on her hand until she let it go and then disappeared in a cloud of smoke. Cinder didn't notice that her father was watching her do it until she turned around with a new fire ball ready to put into the water. "Father I didn't see you there, I was just practicing..." "did your mother teach you this!?" he asked Cinder looked at him "No, she didn't." she said not knowing what he wanted from her. "who did then?" he asked "No one, why do you want to know?" "what you have in your hand is a deadly weapon and is not for you get rid of it!" Cinder looked at her father, she had never seen him so angry before. Cinder stood up and looked at him "this was given me by my mother and I will not get rid of it it holds the history of this people that you didn't have the courage to tell them, father our people have lived in darkness all of this time, it is time to help them to the light, I know what we need what the whole land of Anamara needs I saw..." "no you don't know what is out there that my father took the liberty of showing me when I was a child, there are the shadowhunters." "what are they?" she challenge "if I told you you would never forgive me..." Cinder looked at her father and saw for the first time that there was some black in his hair, he had brown hair not black. "father, what is that in your hair?" he looked at her and pulled his cloak over his head and said "it is none of your concern." and then he left the room. What was her father hiding from them? That's what she wanted to know. Cinder looked out of her window and shook her head there where so many things that she had to find out but had so little time to do it in she thought it was impossible. Hunter looked at his sister, why was she hiding it, it was a power that no one controlled and his sister had the secret of it. Why was their father so unwilling to let her teach the people about it, it was their history it was who they where. Cinder looked at her hands, who where these shadow-hunters? Why was her father so unwilling to tell her about them? Where they evil, did they want to hurt them? Cinder went to her room and got her cloak, she had to think and she couldn't do it here, she had to get out of the castle and away from everyone she had to be alone. She went to the stables and got her horse and got on and went out of the castle gates and into the woods, the only place that she could think. She rode hard for a while and then slowed her horse to a walk, what where all of the things that her mother had told her? She was one of the ones that could understand the language of fire and that made her stand out, she was coming out of the shadow at last, she was one the few that would be remembered in their history as a fire charmer as they were called by outsiders who didn't know what is meant to know these languages and what a special meaning they had to the people that had them. How would she stay out of the way and so no one knew about what she could do? They would come after her and then where would she be, she would be responsible for what happened if anything went wrong. And she didn't want that. She was the daughter of the king not a murder. Cinder looked at the world around her, there where more to the nations then killing each other in a fight, this was about the survival of all of the nations and what they believed in, what they stood for and what the founders wanted for them and the people that came after them. They didn't want war or bloodshed but that was where they were about to go, Cinder looked out of her window, after she had gotten back, maybe it was time for the secret arts to come out, maybe it was time for the languages of the founders to come out of the dark and come into the light of the new generation
