CHAPTER 20-WATERFALLS AND STRANGERS

Cinder watched as they went ahead of her, she had lagged behind to see what and where they were going, in case they had to make a run for it. What if Kalia was wrong and they wouldn't listen? What if they tried to kill them? Ash and the others trailed behind wondering if this was a good idea, or if they should go back, but Cinder had no intention of going back, this was where she was supposed to be, and she would stay until she had fulfilled what she had come for and that was Unity of all six nations. Cinder looked to where Kalia waited for her, where had the others gone? She looked around and then back at Kalia, was she really trusting a Fallen? What would her mother say about that? Her mother! What was her father doing? Was he worried about her and the others, she had not sent him a message saying that she had found the others, what would he think when this was all over? Would he know if she survived at all? That was all that she needed to know. Where were they going? Was this being she was supposed to be? Cinder looked out of the trees to the sunset that had come while they were moving, Kalia looked at her and frowned, what was wrong with her? Cinder looked behind her to the others, why were they coming with her? This was not what they signed up for. Ash looked at her and smiled and it raised her spirits a little, they were far from their goal and that was not what they wanted at the moment, what if her wings came back? What if she hurt someone that she loved? She couldn't let that happen again, she had killed someone she remembered what had happened, but it was not what she wanted to remember at the time, they had a job to do and they couldn't let things like this come in the way. What would happen when they got to the Shadowlands? Would they be shown mercy, or would they have to be taken and she would never see her land again? Was this all for nothing. "I know how you feel, i felt that way many times, regret, defeat, pain sorrow...it is all me, we Fallen feel all that you feel, all of the evil and the hate, all of the things that you want to keep inside, all the things that you wanted to keep from us... it is no longer a secret..." Cinder looked at Ash but he was not looking at her, he was not the one talking to her, who was? Was it Teloki? he was the only other one that could hear her thoughts and he was not there? Were had he gone? Kalia was gone as well, were had they gone? Tayrah looked at Cinder and asked her a question but Cinder didn't hear her, she felt so strange, what was happening, it was like no one was there with her, that they were all a distant memory.

Suddenly she was not in the Shadowlands she was somewhere that she didn't know, what was happening? She tried to summon fire, but it wouldn't come, and she panicked what was going on! It was always there! Cinder got a hold of herself and then looked around, the place was unfamiliar, unknown to her or anyone she thought. It was black, black as pitch and all that she could see was a small light in the distance, what was going on, she stumbled toward it and then gasped why was he here? he was supposed to be dead! Cinder had killed him herself. This was not happening! "Hello, Cinder, what a surprise seeing you here. I thought that you were Dead!" Cinder looked at him venom in her voice "You thought that i was dead? I am very much alive and i will end this thing that you have started! Even if i die in the process, you have no control over me or what i do, i could have killed you that day that you took my sister! Where is she? Is she dead?" the man stalked away from her and grinned "What makes you so sure that i kept her?" Cinder looked at him and wondered if he was lying, was Ember even there at all, was he for real that he knew where she was? "Rakol, we don't have to do this, you can have anything that you want, just give me my sister!" "Why would I do that, seeing you how you are is good enough for me!"

 Cinder looked at him "Why did you bring me here?!" she yelled into the darkness was this were she was supposed to be? She wanted to see her sister and he was not letting her. What would she do? Why was he being so difficult. Cinder watched as he circled her and laughed "I thought that you were smaller! Last time I saw you were a child in your mother's arms..." Cinder looked at him "YOU! You were there?" she asked her eyes wide with the horror of what he was saying, was this true? Had he done it? Had he killed her mother and then taken her sister? All of those years ago, it had been him! Cinder advanced on him her rage building to a fury that she couldn't control even if she wanted to, he was a traitor and a murder, and he had to die! She looked at him "they trusted you?" "No, Child they trusted one that is not here!" "the Surge Dragon, they know that it is not real that the dragon is only in legend, that is not possible!" Rakol looked at her and leaned closer to her and whispered something that shot fear into her heart... darkness! Pure darkness was all around her, what was the Surge Dragon? She shook her head and went to the edge, what would happen now?
