Chapter 9-LIGHT UP THE PATH

Kalia looked around, where were they? Cinder gasped they had stumbled into the Light nations camp by mistake, this was the best thing that had happened to the five travelers so far. Cinder saw lights on the path and went to touch one but it went out and another went into its place. Kalia went over to it and crouched next to it but it made all of her color go away for a second and then she was back to her full black self. Cinder smiled at the others "yes, we have found the Light Nation, now if they will listen to us then we can be on our way and then each of us will go back to our own lands." Kelly smiled at the Light danced off of her water that she had made in her hand this was so cool that they had found them, but how would they react to being found? Would they be hostile to the others because they had not left them alone? What would happen? They would have to see and find out what is going on with them. Cinder looked at her four companions and they all shook their heads, they had to find the center city, the one that everyone was at, but how would they do that, they most

likely had guards on the walls they would for sure see them if they came by the way of the gate. What would they do if they where caught? Ash looked at Cinder "we have to get in and get the Star and get out." he said Cinder nodded, like she didn't know that already. She looked up the path that they where walking on and saw that the lights went straight to the City, that was great because they could get in and get out fast. Cinder watched as the people of the city went in and out without knowing that they were watching their every move, suddenly Ash looked at her "i feel a draft." he said matter of factly like he had known It all along Cinder and the others looked at him how? Kelly asked Ash smiled at them do you really have to ask? he said and they all nodded, he was the Air master, of course he would know if there where any secret passages in the city, why had they not asked him before they came? They had been sitting there on the outside of the city when they could have been inside by now. Ash motioned for them to follow him down in the city but he went right instead of right on and came to a door etched into the wall. Cinder fused it open and they all went in. the City was dark and cold as they looked inside the city walls, there was no one about. Kelly looked into the street and gasped Cinder and the others looked to where she was looking and blinked in disbelief all of the Light Nation was looking at them with weapons drawn Cinder looked at her three companions and signaled for them to put their weapons away. Kelly did so but Ash and Nate didn't and looked at Cinder, she burned their weapons from there hands so that they dropped them in disbelief that she would do that to them. "we are not here to fight." she said said as much to them as to the mob in front of them. One of the woman in front of them looked at her "you are of the Fire Nation, what business do you have with us?" Cinder looked at her three other companions and they all looked at her not giving any help "we are here because we believe that you have something of ours." she said the woman laughed "what could we have of yours?" she asked Ash looked at Cinder and wondered where she was going with this. "do you have a child that is special?" she asked. The woman looked at her and shook her head "what do you mean by that?" she asked, Cinder nodded at Kelly who made water come from her hand and then Nathan made the earth shake beneath them, she herself made fire more out of the pits that they were in and move around outside and then go back in and stay there, Ash whipped the air around them so that a fierce wind picked up and the woman had to keep hold of her hat and then he put out the fire that Cinder had created. Cinder looked at the woman "someone who knows the language of the Light and can bend it to their will?" the woman looked at the people behind her and a girl walked up, the light was practically bouncing off of her in waves, this was it this was the last Star. They had found the last Star, now they had to get to the Shadow-Realm before anything happened to them and gave them away to the Shadow-hunters Kalia looked at the Light Nation and started to go to the gate, she was starting to fade and she needed to get back to the darkness. Cinder understood and they all started to go, the girl went to them and nodded her head. "i will go with you wherever your going, if that is OK with you and the rest of your company?" Cinder nodded her head and then looked at the girls village, they were silent, did they have any say in if she went or not? She looked about her and saw that the people had gone back to their homes. Cinder looked at her companions and nodded at them saying that they needed to get moving as soon as Tayrah was ready, that's what she said her name was. Cinder went to her "get whatever you need to come with us and make it quick." she said and looked around the Village square as Tayrah went to her mother and told her what was happening and she went to her house and got ready, Cinder and the others all kept their weapons at the ready in case anything happened to them so that they could be on guard about where the left from. Tayrah came out soon after they started toward the gate and she was riding her own horse, what would be waiting for them in the Shadow-Realm? Would all of the other Shadowhunters be there waiting for them? Cinder looked around the place that they had come to outside the gate a while and smiled they would make it to the Shadow-Realm sooner or later and so they would hopefully beat the Shadow-hunters there so that they could do the ceremony and be done with it and the Shadow-hunters would be banished to the Keep as they called it, it was a place that no one wanted to go, no one liked it, they were tortured and their power was taken from them. They continued on their way for a while and then something happened, Kalia came to Cinder and gasped "they found us!" she yelled at her so that she could hear above the wind that the Shadow-hunters where bringing their way to slow them down. Ash looked at Cinder and she nodded, he started to take the wind that they where giving and using it ageist them, so that they dispersed into nothing for a while and they could travel in peace but that didn't last long, they came back and this time Tayrah blocked them with her light, and they hissed in protest and backed away from her, so the rest of the time that they were tortured they stayed close to Tayrah and she cast her light out so that they had a sort of shield around them and the Shadow-hunters left them alone. Cinder looked at her companions and saw that they were all tired and their horses looked about to drop so she called for a halt in dense forest that was next to their path and it looked like the glade had been put there for them at this time because there were six hammocks hanging there and everything that their horses would need for the night so they were all set for the night, Cinder got off her horse and started walking to the edge of the glade where they had stopped and looked out into the darkness. Tayrah made a light barrier so that they wouldn't be able to follow them inside so that they were safe while they slept. Cinder made a fire bright and warm so that they wouldn't be cold, Kelly went in search of water and found a stream and brought some back for them to water down the horses and drink as well. Kelly looked at the others and saw that they were all trying to forget all that had happened to them so far, they were all trying to help silent and thoughtful about it each was in their own little world and Cinder was fine with that. Tayrah's red hair gleamed in the firelight and Cinder sighed, this was a long journey and it was far from over they still had a long way to go. Cinder looked out over the land and saw that it was not far from them that a building was until They came closer to the building and when they came to the gate it opened and they went in we will be safe here for awhile. they got off and went inside, this was the place.
